Soi Bacalar

The bed was nice and big. There was a kitchen space we could use. It was about 10-15 minute walk from lots of restaurants.

Great staff, very helpful. Laundry service on site. Decent sized rooms. Location was within walking distance of the main areas. Use of kitchen also available which was a nice bonus. Lots of dogs barking throughout early hours of the night. Nothing Soi Bacalar can do about it, no fault of theirs, but worth noting.

The location of the property was great about 10 mins walk from the ADO bus station and 10 mins from the lake side too. The staff were all incredibly helpful, we had a shower problem twice in a row and they came to help immediately. The bed was also enormous! Just our shower issue. Both evenings in a row we didn’t have any water in our shower but were given a solution both times so not a major complaint just slightly irritating.

Young receptionist (the grandson) was very moody and sat on his phone in reception, lay on the sofa. I guess I'm not used to seeing this at a professional place! My room needs a few lamp, shelving and a wardrobe. It's very very basic (but clean). There was no place to hang my clothes or put my toiletries. The lighting is that hideous classic BRIGHT WHITE. The hand wash basin water is very poor pressure The shower head has decayed and needs replacing Loud humming in my bedroom at night Breezeblock / concrete construction means you can hear the neighbours peeing, coughing, showering, turning on their TV My room faced the seat swings. Sometimes late at night guests would congregate there to talk and smoke - and wake me up Corridor light would be left on so curtains need to be heavier to block it out...or it needs to be switched off Guests arrive late at night and press the (loud) door bell - when you are asleep! This is so unnecessary. Nothing bad happened yet the hostel didn't feel secure - reception was always open to all but sometimes unstaffed. All the door keys were on display. I'm sure it's fine but it not like a regular hotel service. I'm sure this is reflected in the cheap-ish price Playing loud music during the first part of my stay The surrounding area is very shabby, with dogs wandering and barking. I got used to it but my initial impression was NOT good.

6 minute walk to the ADO station, the only saving grace as I lost my wallet on the bus so frequently went back to the station. I was in room 3 or C, ground floor. Bathroom door handle was broken, constant sewage smell. Low water pressure. My room was missing the mini fridge, and turns out my black curtains are actually sheer curtains, which in my morning light, allowed me to see people super clearly from my bed, who knows what they saw (other rooms next door had a thicker white curtain, perhaps a blackout curtain). Towels were threadbare with holes and stains. Walls were also dingy looking. Toiletries was 1 packet of head and shoulders and 2 bars of soap. Nothing was worth complaining to reception about, as it was already late, and contrary to listed, not 24 hours.

Conveniently close to the bus, a short stroll from the main area of town. Lovely staff. Clean room as pictured.

Very good value for the money. Clean and basic room, it was perfect for us.

Friendly staff, 5 min away from everything. Not as clean as we’d like. Dirty walls, yellow stains on blankets. Other than that it was clean. I think for the price it’s not gonna get better than that. But decent over all.

The room was clean and spacious The WiFi connection was poor We thought it would be more central but It’s a 10-15min walk into the centre of town (if you hire bikes, it’s fine!)

Spacious apartment including a fridge and microwave. Great AC. Late check-out. We had to ask for more loo roll as some local tacos decided not to agree with me and made a hasty exit through the rear doors. There was only one partial roll in the room, so a spare would have been useful for such occasions. Although the apartment was spacious, it was pretty basic.

Big nice room, great A/C and hot water in the shower. Great value for money About 10-15 minutes from the center and feels like leaving in the neighborhood

There is a nice terrace and water is provided. They didn’t give me the room I booked for and they only told me when I arrived. We were communicating earlier that day so they could have easily warned me. There were different king of bugs in the bathroom and worms in the shower.
