The hotel is very simple and rustic which did not come across to me in the photos so when I arrived, I thought I wasn't going to like it as that was not what I was expecting. But the room, while quite small and having absolutely no frills, had lots of positives. It was very clean, had a good air conditioner (a must here!) and good water pressure including plenty of hot water. The TV worked and had international channels that came through clearly which was great as during the hot hours of noon and 4 pm you just want to chill in your room. All the staff were very kind and helpful from the check-in to the cleaning personnel. The location is great as you can easily walk to the Fort which is worth a visit, to the Ecopark which is definitely worthwhile and there is the main square with plenty of restaurant choices and the boat docks to take the lagoon tour all within minutes by foot. The hotel's garden also has a lot of nice aspects as there are coconut trees, bananna trees, lime trees and organge trees which at first you don't notice for some reason, but once you spend some time on the patio relaxing, you start seeing how nice it really is. The place is very quiet and while there were other guests, I felt like we had the place to ourselves and we were able to rest and sleep very well. There is no coffee, water or fridge in the room itself, but there is all the instant coffee you want at the entrance in the outdoor shared-living room, along with purified water by the glass and I was able to use the fridge in their breakfast area to store small items. Breakfast was fresh fruit that they prepared every day when we arrived for breakfast. It consisted of a bowl of sliced papaya, bananna, melon and watermelon and 2 slices of toast with a small dab of jam on it, plus coffee and some kind of Sunny Delight beverage (not real orange juice). We stayed for 6 days and while the breakfast was always the same, it was fresh and helped get us started. In the end, I didn't care that it wasn't super sophisticated since it was relaxing and authentic. I ended up liking everything. But again the place is really no-frills.

Clean and spacious room. Perfect location. 2' walk to the Zocalo, 5' walk to the laguna! Breakfast could have been a little more extensive. But a coffee, toast and some fruit is a good beginning to start the day.

A very quaint hotel with beautiful surroundings to sit and enjoy. The location is only a block away from the main square, restaurants and the fort. Our room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast of fruit, toast & coffee was a great start to the day.

Location was perfect, Room was amazing. Ultra clean. Family owned and run. Could walk from the ADO bus station (1.5 km maybe). Just up the road from the lagoon. And close to the centre, for food, drink and nightlife. Provided water to refill bottles, free coffee all day, and basic breakfast was provided. Thumbs up. Definite hidden gem in Bacalar. Maria was great, so helpful, and a pleasure to deal with. Best stay in Mexico so far, while touring. Nothing. Was all great.

Perfect location at the center of Bacalar, but sufficiently off to avoid the noise. Really close to the main activities, the Fuerte Felipe, the laguna, the restaurants and bars. Breakfast included but limite choice. Coffee was definitely not their specialty. Toasts we fine, but no choice of crepes or whatever Mexican desayunos specialties...

There were four of us, so the room felt a bit small, but, as we only returned there to sleep, it was fine.
