Hotel Simplon

We had a room with a balcony over looking the lake with a great view. The pool looked amazing! I wish the room temp was slightly cooler. The room was a little small compared to most US hotels, but probably average size for European.

Staff very personable and accommodating , the grounds, pool, rooms, are all lovely, the common areas decorated with fresh flowers and beautiful paintings. I did not eat there, so I can not comment on the food. My room, although very lovely, was located on a busy street with noisy trucks

Did not like the hotel charging for tea and coffee packs in the room. Those are basic amenities for the guests. At least they should be refilling them once everyday without extra charges.

Handy to the supermarket and not far from the lake. The toilet and hand basin are too close together and the toilet is awkward to access

Overall a good stay. We slept well, with a comfy big bed and the view was great. Friendly staff, nice bedding, great pool area. Pool water was v cold! Breakfast was ok but not the best, bathroom was small and tired. Bar was very quiet. I wasn't impressed that a 5% service charge was added to the room bill. Please do not follow a US model, none of us like the over tipping culture.

The hotel and grounds are exceptionally beautiful. The outdoor pool and gardens are a real treasure. The staff were very helpful and friendly with the children. The town of Baveno is adorable. The views of the lake and Alpine foothills are peaceful and uplifting. The weather was prima. Nothing. This is a true gem.

The pool was beautiful. The pool bar was good with nice food. Breakfast on the terrace was lovely. The room was a very good size and everything was very clean. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was a little dated.

The hotel is a dream come true!!!! The Air conditioner system is too noisy. We could not sleep well enough.

Nice pool area and comfortable rooms. Extra charge for everything (breakfast, parking, gym…) and breakfast was quite plain. Room price would have been closer to value for money if these all would have been included.

Delightful and helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble The lack of power points which made it difficult to charge phones and use a laptop. Our room was split over two floors. The available power point on the lower floor did not function. The only way to obtain power would have been to disconnect hotel equipment which did not seem appropriate. On the upper floor there was one working power point but it was a long way from the beds. I would have liked to have known about the car parking charges prior to arrival. Parking is charged hourly. There is a 5% service charge added to the bill (apart from the usual tourist taxes) which is in addition to the price quoted by Booking.com. We had booked a ground floor room as one of the party had recently had an operation. On arrival we discovered our room was on level 4. However the lifts were efficient so we accepted the room even though the staircase within it was quite awkward. There are also steps at the entrance to the hotel.

The outdoor pool is very large and is enjoyable for children. The property is clean and well maintained. All of the staff we encountered were very friendly and were helpful. Our room was a little tired, but it was very clean. We didn’t really enjoy the lunch we had at the poolside restaurant - service was great and friendly, but we did not find the menu options to be very varied or to offer many healthy options. This is a large hotel which successfully caters to large numbers of rooms and guests, so it is not somewhere to come if you are seeking an intimate experience.
