This hotel has multiple outdoor courtyard both downstairs and upstairs allowing you heaps of opportunity to mediate or just chill. I saw 3 hotel cats when I was there with their own unique personalities. The hotel is set within the local neighhbourhood rather than tourist / commerical areas, so you get a genuine chance to enjoy the local Beijing neighbourhood vibe at leisurely pace. There were the occassional waft of cigarette smoke coming in through the doors at odd hours. Lots of people still smoke so nothing you can do about this. I was a bit confused why the internet wasn't working but then I realised that is due to the great chinese firewall; when I swapped over to exploring social media content on the local 'Little Red Book' app, I had absolutely no issues with lag for live feeds. I was able to switch to e-sim access albeit at 4G speed via the mobile when I needed to get outside of the network restrictions.

This cozy boutique hotel had incredible charm and offered a peaceful atmosphere despite being a couple hundred meters from major roads. It is tucked away in a smaller ally, ushing in some quiet, although the location is still near plenty of restaurants. The hotel is incredibly clean and is monitored by several cats. The staff is friendly but you may struggle if you can't speak any Mandarin. Room info was transmitted to me via Wechat. The room I booked was incredibly spacious and comfortable. While the furniture was a bit dated, the overall layout was great. There was a big closet to hang clothes, a huge desk to do work, a compact couch to lunge on and plenty of bathroom and other amenities. Outside the door was a nice courtyard that was beautifully lit up at night. The bathroom had its own washer and was blessed with a nice shower. As I departed on my last day, one of the staff provided me with a bag of treats as a gift. Top notch all the way. About an 8 minute walk from the nearest metro station and the bustling Sanlitun shopping district not much further. Can't recommend enough.

Perfect location for us. So convenient! And cats are so cute? Have to go downstairs to the bathroom at midnight, which is inconvenient.

location very clean place nice staff, not fluent in english but they try everything they have cats closed ALL DAY in a closet with glass. There is no way to have this behaviour tolerated. They say this is to avoid the cats run out, and that's makes sense. but this is not the way to keep cats as pets. shame of this behaviour.

Absolutely love the location. But even tho it’s located in the heart of the city the hotel is in a quiet alley. Wonderful, warm staff. Always a pleasant stay.

Cats in reception. Nice atmosphere, compared to impersonal big chains. Nice side street location but close to transport and local eateries. Lots of nice outside sitting areas.

The location and the helpful staff were my highlights at the M Hotel. The pillows were very high, and uncomfortable. we asked to be changed but we got the same. No place for breakfast inside the hotel but outside the hotel there are many places.
