Sleep Inn & Suites Birmingham - Hoover

Property required a $100 deposit in addition to Room &Tax. This was uncalled for, demeaning, rude, Ridiculous. This was not communicated to me by Expedia. I will hesitate to use Expedia in the future. You need to remove them as a client. I was forced into giving in to their demand as it was too late for me to cancel and even more inconvenient to find alternative lodging. If by chance you had this policy listed on your website and I missed it, then you need to make such policy a separate box that must be checked.

The property was clean and well-maintained, and I appreciated having vending machines available for convenience. The water never got hot, the air conditioning didn’t work properly, and the room door was very difficult to close. In addition, some of the staff had a nasty attitude, which made certain interactions unpleasant.

Close to dining out

The location was great. Easy to find, and by a lot of places. I had to be moved rooms 5 times, because they all smelt like mildew. The A/C never really got cold. It did cool down, but not cold like a typically A/C in a hotel room.

The property had an odor. It was very outdated. There was no WiFi the day I checked in. It was turned on the next day right before check. It was conveniently located near the shopping center. The price was reasonable.

Nice staff. Seems family ran, so i can tell they’re doing their best. Uncomfy bed, dirty walls, used toilet paper roll, musty smell, breakfast doesn’t really exist, didn’t feel “safe” the other guests..

Highly disappointed! Clerk barely understood English. Room smelled. Bathroom vent loose and hanging. TV remote taped together. Water around ice machine . Breakfast - gravy had to be microwaved, no eggs out except pre-made omelets to microwave. Had to repeat ringing bell to get anyone’s attention. Credit card charged $114. Receipt showed $81. Lady at counter had to call someone to show her how to print receipt. She spoke a foreign language. Overall a rough experience.

DO NOT CHOOSE THIS HOTEL. This hotel smelled like mold and did not have the amenities promised. We arrived to a dirty room with a strong odor of mold. We decided not to stay or even take a different room - it was that bad and we had a sick baby with us. The front desk was polite and agreed to a full refund for which they gave me a printed receipt. However we are now on day seven and my money has not been refunded and this hotel has not responded to calls or emails from Expedia. The printed receipt with the refund was included in the email.

- nice size room Cons: -ridiculous to pay $100 deposit & have to wait for it to come back (this was just annoyance) -there was a scent/smell in room ( that constantly lingered) . Luckily we had air fresheners we brought -Mini refrigerator doesn't have a freezer up top ( I've never stayed at a hotel that didn't have a freezer part up top of fridge) - shower pressure bad and lukewarm water at best - sofa bed was stripped, had to put sheets on myself, (I've never had to do that at a hotel I've stayed at it's always already had a sheet on it) also was not too comfortable - their breakfast is from 6:00 to 9:00 a.m. went down for breakfast at 8:00 and it was literally the most poor excuse of a breakfast I've ever seen at a hotel in my entire life. Almost everything wasn't restocked and there was literally only the options of refrigerated cheese omelets, old looking gravy, a pancake machine with no batter for it, juice and two different types of cereal and apples. ( would probably never stay at this hotel again)

They charged a $100 incidental fee that I have yet to get back(5 days later) and then charged me twice for the night which took 48 hours to get back. Disappointed that a one night stay ended up costing me initially over $300.
