The sea view The traffic noise and uncomfortable bed.

This is a truly luxurious hotel. The room is massive — complete with a jacuzzi, bathtub, walk-in wardrobe, and well-thought-out lighting zones. Everything feels spacious and clean, the bed is super comfy, and the layout is really stylish. Breakfast is excellent, with a good variety of options and fresh juices that were a real highlight. If you’re after space, comfort, and a luxurious room, this place delivers. Just be aware of a few downsides, especially if easy beach access or total peace and quiet are high on your list. Although the room is large, it’s sectioned off with a small fence, which makes it feel a bit enclosed. It’s quite noisy both day and night due to traffic nearby. The door lacks a bottom seal, and one night a giant tropical cockroach managed to get in — definitely not ideal. The bathtub and sink are right in the room, so it’s hard to use them quietly if someone is still sleeping. The desk could use an upgrade — it’s a bit worn out. The pool area is small, with very little shade and no umbrellas (despite having space for them). During low tide, the beach view isn’t very appealing because of exposed rocks and a slightly unpleasant smell. There’s no real private beach, and access to the shore is rocky. Also, there are no shops nearby — the closest 7-Eleven is about 1.5 km away.

To start, my room was not ready to check in at 2pm as advertised and I was running late to my meeting because the staff would tell me 5 more minutes for almost a hour. They also would ignore me when I would come to check in on my room and just laugh amongst themselves pretending I was not there. The pool and all of facilities are extremely outdated. The tiles in the pool are missing and loose, the infinity pool is leaking between the tiles so it’s not an infinity pool anymore. Room was extremely dirty…from shower heads to windows and vents. The shower was clogged first few days of my stay had to call and ask several times to have someone come fix it, after that the AC was broken where water leaked from it all over the floor of the bathroom and again had to keep asking staff to send someone to fix it. The restaurant at the hotel was just as bad, staff rarely brought an order to the table correctly. This was by far the worst experience in Koh Samui hotels after coming here every year for over 10 years this was more than disappointing. We came with a group of 18 ppl and stayed between 3 hotels in 1 month time and this was the only bad hotel and experience of them all and from past experiences.

We enjoyed our stay at the Saran. We had an ocean villa unit which was very spacious and was really relaxing going to sleep hearing the sea. We enjoyed our room but the window furnishings are in need of repair or replacement. It would have been nice to open curtains so you could have full view of the water and close them to have a dark room to sleep.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the infinity pool itself was lovely. There were 20-25 steep treacherous steps to our room which were not told about, virtually inaccessible for my elderly parents. The breakfast selection was inadequate and untasty. The water in the shower did not become warm for two days in one room, in the other it was intermittently hot/cold for our entire stay. The pool was nice but the sun loungers were dirty, rusty and outdated, and the decking boards around the pool area were dangerous at best, one cracked, split and gave way when I walked on it. The walk to our room was excessively long, the room itself was dark and dingy with an uncomfortable bed in the noisiest room I have ever stayed in because of the busy road right behind the wall. The air conditioning unit in one of our rooms was actually leaking down onto the electric points below which was dangerous and caused power cuts. The bathroom provides very little privacy when you are sharing with someone else. The whole place just feels outdated and sad, it’s a shame because the location at the end of the bay of Chaweng Noi beach should be perfect but the whole hotel was a big disappointment and the worst I have stayed in.

Waterfront with private pool. Great view across Chewang and Chewang Noi

The views were amazing and the room was fantastic albeit a little tired The staff were too busy they couldn’t cope, ordered a floating breakfast and it never came, dinner service was awfully slow and not convinced we even got what we ordered. The pool at the room was too cold to use. Asked for an iron and had to ask again 7 hours later, then it never got picked back up even though asked twice

Our room was great, and staff was more than friendly. We stayed in a pool villa, which was really comfortable and view was amazing. Unfortunately we had some unexpected events during our holiday (which has nothing to do with a hotel), but staff really made an effort to support us and they were the highlight of our stay. Location was not easily accessible, neither from a road or a beach... Rooms starting to show their age.

Delicious breakfast, beautiful location with view out to sea. Accommodation is immaculate and spacious with lovely walkways nicely lit and planted. We tried the Asian menu for one supper and it was very good and also reasonable. Nice comfortable reception area and lovely Jews if the sea. Such a shame that Saran’s position on the fast main road with no path means one feels rather trapped in the resort and even hailing a taxi or songthaew feels dangerous. We were back to the island after 25 years and it was almost impossible to explore now with that fact road all the way round, very different now.

Nice large room with large balcony and comfortable seating area. The AC was great and beds were comfortable. The pool was overlooking the ocean and had a few lounge chairs around it. Water pressure in shower was great. Staff was helpful and helped set up a taxi to take us around the island. The bathroom did not have a door so it made it quite weird to take a shower (travelling with my sister). The room also had an extra empty room, they could have made it a bedroom. The staircase to the beach actually ended in the water and was slippery. No chairs on the beach. Breakfast was really good but it was the same every day.

The place was amazing with beautiful sea view Loved the breakfast and the staff was shining our day each and every morning The place is a bit far from the city but thank god we had grab? The location

Private pool. Roof leaked on day one, visible mold. Ac did not work in two of the rooms. Bed was very uncomfortable.

Very good

The room was very large and we had two bathtubs It just wasn’t worth the extra money. The room wasn’t cleaned properly, neither was the pool. We had a dead cockroach on the floor of our terrace for our entire stay, which ended up there after we kicked it out from our bathroom floor. The food wasn’t better than anywhere else despite being more expensive. All-in-all it felt like they charged a lot for things to make it seem exclusive, while not doing anything extra to actually make it exclusive. Also the location is a bit off.
