Salmakis Resort & Spa

The biggest disappointment was the breakfast. It was chaotic and poorly managed. Guests were using the same toaster for bread, cheese, and meat, creating unpleasant smells and making it unhygienic, especially for those with dietary preferences.

After mentioning we were on our honeymoon, we were surprised with a beautifully decorated room with breathtaking views and a complimentary fruit basket. The hotel offers stunning views from every corner, and the sandy beach is beautiful with plenty of sunbeds. The all-inclusive food was excellent with lots of variety, and the cocktails were okay. What truly made our stay exceptional was the staff. Everyone was warm, friendly, and always willing to help. The location is also perfect, you can walk to the marina, the city center, and even the Bodrum Windmills. Nothing worth mentioning. We had a wonderful stay and thoroughly enjoyed our time at the hotel.

Grounds for Dispute: The services provided by Salmakis Resort & Spa were not as described and constituted serious misrepresentation and breach of contract. Issues included: Hotel falsely advertised as 5-star (in reality 2–3 star quality). Rooms with mould, damp, blood-stained bedding, leaking air-conditioning, and unsafe fittings. Staff largely unable to communicate in English, frequently rude, and unhelpful. A luxury yacht excursion was sold but replaced with a basic residential boat. Jacuzzi not working, indoor swimming pool closed, and bar menu misrepresented (9 beers advertised, only 1 available). These failures breached: UK Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 EU Unfair Commercial Practices Directive (2005/29/EC) Turkish Consumer Protection Law No. 6502 Despite raising the matter with both the hotel and Booking.com, my request for a refund has been refused. Action Requested: I am requesting that Santander, under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974, refund the full amount of $1,800 USD (approx. £[insert]) to my credit card, as the services purchased were misrepresented and not provided as contracted. I enclose: Copy of Booking.com confirmation and payment record. Copies of complaint correspondence with Salmakis Resort & Spa. My formal complaint letter to Booking.com. The hotel’s refusal to refund. Please treat this as a formal Section 75 / chargeback request. I would appreciate written confirmation of receipt of this claim and details of the next steps in processing. Subject: Extremely Disappointing Experience at Salmakis resort and spa– A Review of a ‘5-Star’ Hotel That Deserves a 1-Star Rating I am writing to express my complete and utter disappointment with my stay at Salmakis resort and spa, which I booked a year in advance for what was supposed to be a special and relaxing trip after loosing both my parents, Instead, it ended up being a nightmare that ruined my entire vacation. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, and I feel compelled to share my experience in the hopes that future guests avoid the same terrible ordeal. 1. Service From the moment I arrived, the service was appalling. Despite having a reservation, I had to wait over an hour to check in, with no explanation or apology from the staff. The front desk was disorganized, and when I was finally given a room key, the room wasn’t even ready. There was no assistance offered with luggage, and the staff seemed completely uninterested in providing even basic customer service. 2. Room Condition The room I was assigned was nothing like what was advertised. It was poorly maintained, outdated, and downright disgusting. To start, the walls had bloodstains on them—something I shouldn’t have to encounter in any hotel, let alone one that claims to be 5-star. The furniture was worn and dirty, the carpet was stained, and the bathroom was in desperate need of repair. There was mold in the shower, and the sink was clogged. Additionally, the room had two single beds instead of the requested double bed—something that should have been corrected immediately but wasn’t. On top of all that, the room safe was not secured to the wall or anything—literally anyone could have picked it up and walked away with my personal belongings. 3. Food and Dining The dining experience was a complete disaster. The food in the restaurant was not labeled, making it impossible to know what you were actually eating.

The property needs updates, not a 5 star resort

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The receptionists, Shilan and Kamuran, were absolutely amazing—so kind, professional, and always ready to help. They truly made me feel welcome from the moment I arrived. The breakfast was another highlight, with a wide variety of fresh and delicious options. The portions were generous, and every meal felt like it was prepared with care. All the staff I encountered were warm, welcoming, and attentive, which made the whole experience even more enjoyable. The spa is huge and beautifully maintained, with an authentic hammam that adds a special touch of relaxation to the stay. It was the perfect way to unwind and recharge. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for great service, friendly staff, excellent food, and top-notch wellness facilities. However, the hotel itself is in need of renovation, starting from the entrance through to the rooms. Our first night was difficult as the AC wasn’t working properly, making it hard to sleep, and the lighting in the room could use improvement as it lacked proper lamps. While the service from individual staff members was excellent, the overall facilities need attention to match the hospitality provided. With some upgrades, this hotel has the potential to be truly outstanding.

The beach is very clean sandy and nice The dancing party was amazing It was the best thing in the hotel. Mr. Nihat in the reception was friendly The spa was amazing specially the jakuzi was nice . Everything is amazing about the property Very difficult to say but one thing they can improve is have a a bit of vegan veg menu and also to add the name in front of the food. Just a suggestion.

This resort is one of the best that I have stayed ever. We were there for 5 days and had amazing time. Staff were very welcoming and accommodated to our little request without any hesitation.. Definitely looking to go back again.. Nothing, everything was so perfect

Nice resort hotel with good amenities and a relaxed feel. Evening entertainment was good, the folk dancers in particular were excellent. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Location next to the water-taxi into central Bodrum was very convenient and there are many sights of interest to visit. A short stroll from the hotel gets you to the historic windmills and viewpoint and the old city wall walk. When we left early for a daytrip to Ephasus, reception organised breakfast-boxes for us to take. The greeting at our arrival was a bit gruff but this member of staff was not typical. The room (in the residence adjoining but not in the hotel) was dirty and poorly maintained with broken light-fittings, microwave, front door and missing batteries from the AC controls. However, when we brought these deficiencies to the attention of the guest relations team, reparation was made apologetically and swiftly. So, after a disappointing start, we had nothing but praise and our stay was very comfortable.

Been guests of the hotel for years. Great location, land and sea accessibility. Well equipped spa and other utilities. Beautiful view of gulf of Bodrum (if payed). Family friendly. Used to be the most loveable hotel in Bodrum. Quality's been falling the last couple of years. Opening doors to our rooms has been a challenge, cards did not work properly. To get to the Spa area had to go around because of they closed one of the doors. The quality and selection of food were poorer than before. The waiters did not pay attention to guests especially in the mornings. There was no smoke free area outside of the building. Not on the beach, in grill bar or main restaurant, or on balcony belonging to the room. After so many years this last visit was a disappointment.
