Hôtel La Zoologie

Beautiful suite, great balcony, all areas of the hotel were clean, well kept and stylish. Spa was wonderful. Bar and snack service were slow but staff were friendly

Very beautiful and unique building with a lot of interesting interior design. Very high walls, which we liked. The garden terrace and general feeling of the hotel and our room ( facing the garden ) was calming. Generally very elegant presentation and friendly staff. If you go into the details, for this price range, there are so many things improvable: the bedside lamp on one side of the bed was so far up that it’s not reachable from the bed, same for the bedside table on this side. One power outlet next to bed shaky, nearly broken. The shower room has some black mold at the drainage, feels unnecessarily big and has no door so even if you try to be careful the sleeping room floor will get wet. There is only one metal rail for wet towels which is not enough for 2 people. Some small pastry rests fell on our floor and in 10 minutes there were countless small ants on the floor. We don’t know how they got into the room, the door was closed. The breakfast choice is delicious but limited. Wifi worked somehow but I needed to download one 1,7 GB file, and simply couldn’t do it with their WiFi download speed, it was incredibly low ( went to the hotel lobby for that). Since there is no fridge in the room, we asked to store something in the hotel reception fridge, which they nicely accepted. After leaving the hotel we realized we forgot the items, unfortunately the hotel reception didn’t remind us and didn’t want to cover any part of the sending back fee. It’s big part our fault, but as we are travelling very often, we have never had this hotel service in this price range. Once, even a small family kept hostel in Switzerland reminded us at checkout that we left something in their fridge.. It would improve the service of La Zoologie if they would make memos for themselves to remember who let which kind of item with them so they can let people know at check out.

It is a beautiful building with nice rooms Booking billed me around $500 for two nights but because of. hotel fees I ended up,having to pay double that amount! So beware if your using Booking. The price you booked for will not be the price you pay.

Fabulous hotel: stylish, immaculately clean, friendly and efficient. Staff at reception were very helpful and welcoming. Free use of spa (sauna, steam and hot tub) in morning and evening was a welcome treat. Breakfast is excellent and the restaurant food was delicious (set lunch €30). Will book again when in Bordeaux.
