The room was very small, and the bunk bed room arrangement restricted space and movement for those who didn't need or use it. Even though there was a small desk, there was only a small stool to sit on, and no proper chair. The bathroom setup was also odd to me, with a tiny shower cubicle separated from the toilet, and the wash basin placed very close to the bed. Finally, I found the system of depositing EUR 10 to borrow and use a hairdryer to be very strange.

The Ibis Budget Bordeaux Centre - Gare Saint Jean is right across from the train station. It is extremely convenient for arrival and departure from Bordeaux. There are places to eat all around. The Ibis Budget hotels in general are good value and located conveniently around France. This one was no exception. The rooms are small but clean and the check in and check out are blessedly fast and trouble free. This is not a luxury hotel. If you are look for that it is not for you. However, it is what it is and what it is is convenient, clean, and hassle free. It is more what I didn’t expect about Bordeaux. The area around the station is typical of the area around train stations. Somewhat rough and ready although I felt perfectly safe both right around the area and at the hotel. But Bordeaux is surprisingly gritty. The old center is essentially protected by CRS riot police posted on corners. And the old center is lovely but feels slightly lifeless despite the crowds. The walk through the section between the station and the downtown is… sketchy. The kind of walk you probably wouldn’t mind during the day but would think thrice about after dark.

I traveled for work. The room was small but it had everything one needs. Great location just a block from the train station.

Hotel near the train and bus stations. Breakfast is very good. Pleasant staff at reception Room is very small. Separate toilet and shower rooms….Very small, can hardly fit inside toilet and I’m 5’10” 180 lbs. there’s nowhere to put/hang stuff inside toilet/bathroom. Lots of noise in hallway. A budget hotel, lots of teenagers making noise. Feels like a Hostel.

Simple,clean,breakfast was great. The train station was a 2 minute walk across the street, with a big suitcase made travel easy. No coffee or tea in the room

Upon entering the room it smelled a little bit weird, but what smelled worse was the bathroom there. It smelled like rotten eggs, it was intolerable. We went downstairs to ask the front desk what we could do, and they gave us a bottle of air freshener, which helped a little bit, but combined with the rotten egg smell kinda made it worse. After turning on the shower the smell got a bit less, but it was still quite bizarre.

The location was convenient for Bordeaux Saint-Jean. The receptionist on departure was very professional, listening to our complaints, apologising and assuring us it would be looked into. On arrival, after I didn't quite hear what she said, the receptionist changed from French to English. Although I speak French, I was very tired from the journey and am a bit hard of hearing. And even if my French isn't at native level, I found it a bit rude that she did that, especially because she spoke in broken English. But the worst part about this hotel was the bathroom. There was mould everywhere in the shower and the smell was horrible. Absolutely disgusting. There was somewhat of a damp smell in the reception area as well. If we were staying for more than one night, we would have left the hotel. We will certainly not return.

Across the street from the train station and next door to a great cafe. The shower was very odd. It is not private. You undress in the room to get in. You come out into room. Door had a circular hole (handle) to open and close. A peephole of sorts. It was uncomfortable for a prude like me, since I was traveling with adult children. During our stay, my daughter and I returned to room to charge devices. We hear a knock and then our door is opened by cleaning staff. Shouldn’t they know someone has checked into room??? How about if it were my husband and I having a private moment??? I didn’t report it. We were watching tv. Also, the bunk bed wasn’t made. I literally had to climb up and make the bed.

Very close to train station

Very clean, small but cosy room and window, cool practical design. Slept and rested very well here. Great location, very close to the big train station (lovely station ambience for people watching, reading, playing a piano for free) and restaurants/ shops like Lidl, Carrefour etc at max 10 mins walking distance. Bed was very comfortable. Good heating and thermostat access. Awesome reception staff and cleaning lady. We were very thankful that they printed our boarding passes for our return flight and recommended taxi companies just in case. There is a tram route for the airport as well and we ended up taking the tram just fine. The hotel was on a practical route to Marche des Capucins too. The access card stopped working 5-10 mins before our actual check out time set for 12 pm so we found ourselves stuck in the elevator at the 5th floor unable to descend or to get back out onto the floor :)) A bit of panic. Fortunately another guest called the elevator at the same 5th floor, found us inside, and had a practical idea to go down herself and call the receptionist while we patiently waited in the 5th floor lobby. The cleaning lady on the floor also offered to help us descend with the elevator with her (my partner walks in crutches so the stairs would have been difficult). Very helpful staff despite the panic of this technical issue.

we needed a night stop last minute and we found this hotel, great location, clean white sheets, good breakfast. Everything was great except that it was not clear that the parking is not in the hotel but a nearby public parking (paid separately i think) After the initial surprise, as we had put parking as one of the main search requirements, we found the public parking very close by and safe with cameras etc so it was ok. surprised by no local parking

I was traveling out of Gare Saint Jean, and the proximity to the station and to good restaurants was great The thermostat didn't seem to to consistent

We needed to be close to the train station for early departure, Ibis Budget is steps from there. Rooms are small but not a problem for a quick stay.
