Bungalows Malú

The mattress was the firmest mattress I have ever slept on. The bedsheets were clean but there was no bedding beyond the two sheets. I would have been comfortable with some sort of additional cover. I used a sarong which was good enough.

Nice and close to the beach

The grounds are well kept, the pool is clean. 2 of the staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The room was close to the beach. Most of the staff were sullen and unfriendly. If I asked for something out of the ordinary(early check in, late check out), I was told No, despite the fact that the room was not rented(still showed available online). As stated before, 2 were exceptionally friendly, Sergio at the bar restaurant and Juan the grounds keeper were always smiling and friendly. However, every morning a young boy came around with the leaf blower right outside my door at 7am, There were no blackout curtains on the windows so at night you can see through the sheers into the room. I used a spare sheet for extra coverage. One window had nothing on it and as a solo traveler that is uncomfortable. During the day, the room is very dark.

The swimming area was quite nice and the one morning we had breakfast, it was very nice. The other two mornings, we wanted to arrive bright and early at the park which makes a huge difference on what you see and avoid the crowds that arrive later. The rooms are rustic feeling but very clean, tidy and comfortable. There were other room styles available but as I was traveling with just two people, the bungalow styles cabins were perfect for us. The air con got the room quickly down to where we needed the one day that was extremely hot and muggy. There are a couple of restaurant very close to the property and both were excellent (Atlantida and the Reggae Bar). Nothing

Very nice breakfast and the staff were very friendly and prompt. They were quiet during meal times and very polite. Our first room had a funny odor but they moved us to another room which was a step up. The air conditioner was leaking and my wife slipped on the water. They did fix it immediately and it did not leak again

Lovely place to stay. Clean and comfortable with friendly staff. Cute pool, delicious breakfasts and nice and quiet at night. Woken up by howler monkeys each morning! A bit further to walk into cahuita but as a result it was lovely and quiet.

Location was great and breakfast was fine. The beds were very hard and one was so low we couldn’t get up easily. Only air conditioning in one of the two bedrooms. All the furniture was very outdated and hard to sit on.

Wouldn't change a thing

The location is great. Close enough to the beach you can hear it and there is a close access to Playa Negra which is a great beach. The garden in the hotel is beautiful and the bungalows are well equipped with AC, TV and fridge. The staff was not good. They had a rule to request breakfast the night before said someone would.contact but nobody did so I had to make sure we got our order in instead of having someone take right before breakfast. They also forgot to make 1 of our breakfasts. You have to tell them to clean your room or they won't do it at all. The bungalows are really dark with no natural sunlight coming in. The wifi was terrible, signal dropped always not even 2 minutes of stable signal and this was bad cause their TVs need internet access to work.

Nice gardens Pool is too small. There is no outlet in the bathroom to connect a hair dryer that you have to borrow at the reception and give it back as soon as you’re done. No mirror near an outlet. There is very little light in the bungalow. TV/ WiFi didn’t work even after we complained. There is no place to eat inside the cabin, no table, no chairs. Towels are too small. There is no shampoo nor conditioner in the shower, only soap.

Super friendly staff, very helpful. Clean rooms. Location is a bit far from city centre - 1.5 kms. On the other hand playa negra (black sand beach) is close if that's your thing.
