ITC Royal Bengal, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Kolkata

Over all the grandness of the hotel and room space. Food was also excellent. At around 6:45pm I called the In room dinning for 3-4 glasses as I was in my home town and some of my old friends were visiting me for a drink. But I was told by the lady that you should know that guests are not allowed after 8pm so she cannot send me more than 2 glasses. I am a 60 year old retired man, and I have travelled across the world and stayed in the best hotels in the world, so I know the rules of guests not staying back in the room, but at 6:45 PM to warn me was extremely rude and preposterous to assume that 3 of my friends will stay back the whole night in my room, and flout my entitlement of single occupancy. It left a very bad taste in my and all my friends mouth, as all of them are highly placed and well travelled.

Staff, they could have been more smiling and welcoming. And at the breakfast buffet, entrance to sitting,serious lack of focus.

Everything! From checking in, enjoying the Bangalore cuisine at the breakfast, swimming in the pool

Very very poor service & receptionist was totally unprofessional.

The hotel is beautiful, very clean, and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. The overall ambiance and property itself are excellent. The service was disappointing and much slower than expected for a hotel of this standard. Staff were not very attentive or proactive with requests, and overall client service needs improvement.

The location was good. Very Clean and very spacious rooms filled with amenities. Comfortable beds Didn't get the star treatment you'd expect... points where the hotel can improve on: 1. No bellhop (no one assisted us with our luggage) 2. Room service not prompt enough and kept messing up the request. (Asked for forks, after considerable amount of time delivered spoons. Re-requested for forks got them only the next day.) 3. Service by the pool was very slow. Requested for drinks and fries took about 40 to 50 mins everytime we placed an order. 4. Requested a surprise birthday cake for my wife's 40th bday on booking.com never got any confirmation from the hotel. Asked the reception after check in and they confirmed the request which was supposed to be set up around 9 to 10 am while we were having our breakfast, Nothing was done. Cake was sent later when I went out for work and wife saw it without me, surprise ruined. I booked our stay at the ITC to celebrate my wife's 40th bday with the expectation of impeccable service and a luxurious stay believing in the ITC standard and im not saying i did not have a good stay, it's just that in some parts it fell short of the expectation. Other than that... the rooms are spacious, beds comfy and filled with all the amenities. Solid 10 points on that.

The breakfast quality can be improved.

They truly maintain the ITC class and exceptional hospitality Nothing much to mention just as a point the breakfast space was a bit cramped though the spread was amazing .

Service staff at the hotel and in the breakfast area ; they had to learn lots about hospitality and how to make customer experience a peasant one

The service level was poor for the following reasons Room service food came after 02 hours and that too was atrocious - on complaint they did bring another plate however that was too late To bring anything upto the room be it cutleries or for any service took the longest time minimum wait time was 30 minutes The laundry burnt my Italian jacket - they apologised and waived the laundromat fees however a jacket burnt is burnt The market place for breakfast was like a fish market may be 200 people at one time at about 9 am the quality dropped and so did the service - big parties need to be cordoned off so that they don’t disturb other guests Mosquitos were every where from the rooms , residents lounge , Darjeeling room and the market place with too many bites Over all an under whelming experience

Check in and check out time was too long Mosquito menace all over the property Housekeeping took minimum 30/35 minutes to bring simple things like cuttleries

The breakfast items were fine although a little repetitive. But the staff was not very courteous. One made us wait although the place was empty. Another would not let us sit at our chosen place in an adjoining room although a few minutes later she let others sit there. The location was good but the choice of room was not honored. We wanted a higher floor facing the wetlands but although the person at the reception said she would give us a different room after the first night she never followed through. Also we had made a separate booking for January 25-28 and wanted the two bookings to be joined together. But when we came to the hotel on the 25th we found that we could not get into the room. We had to wait in line again and have additional monies held to be able to get into the room. The attitude of the staff at the reception desk as well as at the breakfast place. They definitely need additional training.

The room was well equipped. The washroom was nice. Breakfast and other meals were excellent. Appreciate the attitude of the staff members. Overall it was good. The kitchenette did not have sufficient equipment. Was expecting a mini bar in the room which was not there. But mostly the room was nice and left me happy.

ITC SENDED ME A CAKE ....IT WAS SHOCKING FOR THERE WAS A BIG HAIR INSIDE THAT CAKE BRAND LIKE ITC CAN

Room (sitting area, sleeping area, bathroom), swimming pool, interior decor, grandeur - truly Royal Bengal Check in was too long In room dining timing a bit long and the delivery boys could be more efficient.
