Located in the heart of Observatory in Cape Town, a lively student area, Green Elephant Backpackers offers budget accommodations. It features an outdoor pool and barbecue facilities. The hostel offers simply decorated rooms and dormitory rooms with shared or private bathrooms. Linen are included in the rooms and there is one dorm room exclusively for women. A daily breakfast is served on request, but there are also excellent coffee shops nearby, some with all day breakfasts. Themed dinners including home-made pizzas and chicken curry are served at the property. My brother stayed here and had the best time. Great place, great guests, great location, great value for money.

The friendly staff, the auto gate, in observatory area. No washing machine, the bunk bed has no side stopper.

The kitchen was basic and the oven was temperamental in terms of temperature control and the gas lighter not working. Blind broken in accommodation but rest of facilities excellent

They can do better by changing the bedding before another guest arrive. The bedding including pillows were smelling nasty. I couldn't sleep the whole night
