Hotel Centrale Europa

The location was fabulous When we arrived there were ants on the floor, walls and the bed. There were hardly any plug sockets and the fridge, which was wobbly, was right next to the bed.

Excellent location right on Duomo Square. Location superb and, for us, that more than compensated for old style room and music from Square. We loved it. It's not the place if one desires 5* luxury, but its great for locations close to everything. Lousy music from the Square, but hey, it's Sicily.

Shower is very small.

Great location right on the Piazza Del Duomo, easy to get to everything. The main bus stops are just around the corner, and a wide range of restuarants all around the hotel. It should said that this is an older hotel, so not the glitz of a big chain of hotels, but it is perfect as it is.

Location on Piazza was a beautiful sight. Bed very comfy, shower good, decor lovely and nostalgic.

Nothing. I didn't like having to drag my suitcase up 12 flights of stairs only to open a door and find three old beds, two of which were so overused, the springs could be felt by hand. I didn't like having to speak with the person at the front desk and requesting the room I paid for, two beds, with a balcony, and being told, "sorry, we have no other rooms". I didn't like an air conditioner that was on a timer so that when the room got warm an stuffy, it wouldn't come on. I didn't like a toilet that is merely caulked to the floor so any movement could potentially topple it over. I didn't like being on a floor that seemed to be part of a residence and have people start yelling at 3 am in the hallway. And, I really didn't like paying money for a room at a "hotel" that is rated 8.1 on Booking.com and finding out it is the equivalent to an out of date motel in North America. This stay makes me question whether Booking.com ever looks into these properties and the facilities offered.

Brilliant location right off the central square of Catania with its fountains and cafes with a great outlook. Literally round the corner from the Duomo and just steps from famous fish market, great fruit and veg shops and local bakeries. Staff were very friendly and let me leave my luggage there after check out so I could do more sight seeing without carrying my bags. Noisy from the street at night (to be expected, given the location). No spare roll of toilet pair. Bathroom fittings not the greatest (it was a 2 star) but functional.

The booking was for a room with a courtyard view. The room we got was not. For booking . com to be selling a view, the property should note that and put people in those rooms. They do have them, just not for us.

Location. A simple room that was clean and comfortable. A Nespresso machine would have been nice, but 20 feet from the entrance was a coffee bar on the plaza.

Amazing view from the room, centrally located, friendly staff, good for short stay. A bit old -school, it is obvious they do not put attention to the details.
