Hotel Gorizia

Location

The location was good near the centre of Catania. The room was large and the bed was comfortable. The room was reasonable clean and the towels and sheets were fresh. The entrance to the accommodation was locked and involved ringing the bell for assistance. We had to wait outside for quite a while before we got and answer. There was no lift and quite a long stairs had to be climbed to reach our room. The reception was on a higher floor with another long stairway to climb. This accommodation should not be classed as a hotel - it is a room in an old building.

Hotel Gorizia was extremely welcoming. We enjoyed our stay very much. The location was exceptional. The room was spacious and spotless. The bathroom was newly renovated. We especially loved the beautiful light from the balcony window. Nothing.

Great location right in the city centre. Salvo was an excellent host and helped us organise taxis. The room was clean and comfortable with a lovely balcony. The room had air con and a fridge to store cold drinks which were needed in the heat! The hotel is set in a beautiful old building with secure doors and very quiete inside Nothing!

Nice location, clean and friendly host

The location was excellent, very close to the main piazza, lots of restaurants close by, mini markets and also the fish market. We were able to walk everywhere and the bus station was close by too. It was also the quietest hotel we have stayed in while in Sicily. The owner was very helpful and the hotel was very secure. We were grateful to have a fridge and kettle. The front entrance could be improved. It doesn’t look good from the outside, but as soon as you get through the door and see the marble staircase you get an entirely different impression.

The location is the best! Everything is walkable from this location, perfect spot for a couple days in Catania. The staff (2 people) were very friendly and helpful. The room was lovely, not modern, but had charm. Linens and towels were clean. Bathroom was a good size, clean and shower was nice. There were good amenities in the room such as refrigerator, tea kettle, coffee cups, etc. I liked having a balcony, even though the view was of the street and other buildings. The bed was comfortable enough, no luxuries to the linens but happy they were clean and fresh. The temperature in the room was good and there were good controls to adjust it. Security of the building was good too. There are stairs to the rooms, didn't notice any elevators. Would definitely stay again! The TV didn't work, but not really necessary for my stay. The hot water in the shower didn't last long or didn't work :( Location was the best!

Exceptional

Hotel Gorizia is a basic hotel with a perfect location in the old centre of Catania. If you are traveling by bus, get off at the bus stop on the Piazza Paolo Borsellino, It's then only a 3 minute walk to the hotel. The owner was very helpful and friendly. Air con, beds shower all great. The whole room was very clean. Don't be put off by the outside. It could do with a few lights, it looks a bit dingy, but directly you go in you met with a a lot of marble and a lot of steps. Travellers with disabilities be advised that there are a lot of steps. Room was dark due to an awning over the window.

The hotel is very conveniently located near cafes, restaurants, and markets. The room was very spacious and clean; the availability of a fridge and coffee making facilities was very welcome. The air conditioner was superb, particularly as our stay was during an unusually warm time. The bathroom was clean and equally spacious. The hot water was hot and full pressure. There is one flight of stairs which although look authentic and true to the accommodation style, bags need to be negotiated up. Fortunately our lovely host carted my wife's bag when he was showing us the room.

Location is perfect, it is so affordable. But, if you're coming to Sicily you need to know that people don't speak English too much. All in all i'm satisfied. ?????

Everything was great, we really enjoyed our stay with our little daughter. Super place spacious room and very friendly staff. If we come to Catania again we will be happy to stay again The room furnishings were a bit dated, especially the bed was a disaster, the right side of the bed was sunken, and sleeping on that side was a punishment ( yes I slept there ) my wife slept fine

Very central but also fairly quiet. Salvatore, the owner, was very friendly and helpful. Looks a bit rundown from the outside.
