Location. Our private bathroom was outside of our room. The answer we found in the shower.

It is a valid option in the center of Catania if you're willing to sacrifice comfort for budget. This is a budget accommodation, which is actually a split apartment inside an old apartment building very close to the main sights of the historic center of Catania. There is no elevator, and you can hear noise from the busy street below and from other guests. The room was very basic, and the private bathroom was in another part of the apartment and not joint with the room. However, both are kept spotlessly clean by Alessandro. The breakfast is self-service and is again very basic.

The flat was very clean . But I was impressed by the artistic atmosphere of the place, I love culture and I felt really good in this environment.

If you can't handle stairs, then this not the place for you as there is 2 flights of stairs to climb and then another flight to get to the room and their is no elevator

My review is of the apartment only. Location was great, close to Borsellino bus station, and 5 mins walk to main square. Bed was low, but comfy. Surprised to have daily cleaning service provided too. View from the terrace of Etna was superb and sea in other direction. Heating in living space was great, kitchen was freezing though. Was able to leave luggage after we checked out, but in reception (unmanned) so not secure as such. Towels were plentiful, as was loo roll. Sadly a much longer list. Tbe photos are out of date, there is no swing on the roof terrace, the lights mostly don't work up there either and the glass table was dangerously rusty in places. The bedroom has a single bed of sorts, but not actual chairs, just the dining table ones and a swing chair. There is no view from any of the high-level windows but the roof windows do open if you stand on the bed. The shower leaked badly (no sealant) so soaked the floor every time (the ceiling in the laundry room below was evidence this was a long standing issue. The bedroom roof leaked in multiple places, we had to get buckets from the laundry room to catch water and the wardrobe was unusable as my clothes in it got wet as one of the leaks was over it. The owner came the next day (he asked if it was leaking badly but took hours to respond to my messages about it the night before so we found towels to soak it up) and threw a tarp over the tiles, but the next night another part leaked (by the bedroom door) and was caused by the plant waterers on the roof (so we turned them off). We noticed a large ceiling stain outside the door so again this is a long standing issue. The remainder of our week it was dry so that was good. The description doesn't mention the bathroom is upstairs, it was 64 stairs from the street to the flat and then another 20 (down and up) once inside to get to the bathroom which is by the terrace. Many plug sockets don't work, we had to clean the kitchen crockery etc before using as it was dirty, one knife was covered in dried food. There is little kitchen workspace but a huge broken fridge left there for some reason just taking up space. The free breakfast is just yoghurt and some long life croissants and cake, with some fruit juice, don't bother with it, plenty of places to eat out. Or buy stuff and do our own, as we did. The location is very noisy, street noise all the time, but up stairs from other rooms so no noise from them.

Wasn’t aware about the apartment is on the 3rd floor. (Good exercise though ?) Bathroom and shower is very small/narrow needs some serious update. I hate to mention that because all the 3 properties we were renting in Sicily and south part of Italy had bidet. For me it’s unnecessary just taking more space. Our last day/night we couldn’t sleep because a bunch of drunk guys were extremely loud, music was loud. I have to mention that the place had a horrible smell maybe someone was cooking something not sure.

    - I booked a stay here with my sister, hoping for a pleasant experience based on the photos and description. Unfortunately, our stay turned out to be quite the opposite, and we ended up leaving in the middle of the night. First, the pictures online were misleading. The place was much more run-down than it appeared, and although our room had a private toilet, it was located down a small corridor outside the room. To access it, we had to walk past the main hall and another room—hardly convenient or private. Our troubles didn’t stop there. That night, the adjacent room was occupied by what the owner described as “a hoard of ill-mannered boys.” The noise was relentless, making it impossible to relax or sleep. We reached out to the owner, hoping for assistance, but were only told he’d “call them.” Not only did the noise continue, but when we informed him that we were leaving, he dismissed it as unnecessary, claiming that the group had settled down after unpacking. How he knew this without being there remains a mystery. As someone who frequently travels and often leaves positive reviews, it’s disappointing to say that this place doesn’t meet basic hospitality standards. The location is convenient if you want to be near the station, but there are plenty of other options in the area where the hosts are genuinely attentive and helpful.

The room was clean and spacious. Alessandro was warm, friendly and easygoing. I felt safe and relaxed. The location was very close to the Giardino Pacini (with the wonderful open-air market) and the Basilica Cattedrale. I wish I had more clear instructions … I’m not a very saavy traveler, and I didn’t know how to use the air conditioner, how to turn on the stairwell lights, or how to access breakfast. This place would have been perfect for me when I was younger (like 30 years ago) and was more out-going … I would simply have asked if I didn’t understand something! ?

Quirky & cool. Huge apartment with comfy bed, great terrace & perfect location 2 min walk from fish market but very quiet, perfect

The staff was polite. Nice breakfast. Catania is beautiful and worthy to be visited. Mont Etna is the cherry ? on the top. Where to start: They gave us the wrong instructions to get to te app, we were wondering in the night to find the keys. The air conditioner wasn't working and it was scorching hot. Cockroaches ? in the toilet. Shared bathroom even though advertised differently.

It was cheap, and fairly central location. The accommodation was grotty and tired. We got what we paid for given how cheap it was, but it definitely looked more pleasant in the photos than it was in real life. There was no lift which didn't make things easy with luggage. The light in our room flickered constantly. The bathroom was very disappointing - the shower was blocked so didn't drain whilst in use and filled up with water, the bathroom bin hadn't been emptied before our stay and in general the bathroom wasn't very clean, we were told it would be for our private use even though it was separate to the room but other guests used it in the night. We were told we would be able to store our bags but the host was no where to be seen at check out time so we couldn't store them with him and had to pay to store them in the city centre instead.

Quirky but very local feeling room and building. Plenty of space in the room. Got in late but well accommodated for self check-in and check-out. Busy and fun location. Comfy bed and settings. Lovely to spend a night here. Breakfast was a little strange to work out what was what in the room and in the common area but not a big deal or fuss

    Very good
