Palazzo del Verga

The location in the centre was super handy but the apartment was very quite at the same time and no sound travelled up to it. The bathroom had robes, slippers and lots of extras that were great as we forgot to pack a few items and we didn't have to worry. The fridge was very generously stocked with far more than we could get through - thanks for this, it was really appreciated. The apartment is naturally cool so we didn't need the air conditioning in late May. The main bed is huge and super comfortable. The apartment lighting is great with a selection of options, which is well thought through. Guiseppe was very helpful - he supplied a fair priced taxi option for airport transfers. Please note these are minor, its just to be aware of them - we did like the apartment a lot. There's no "kerb appeal", you go through a large wooden door, into a courtyard with cars, then up a slightly dark stairwell, then into the the apartment and down a narrow corridor to 1 of 3 rooms. Once in the room itself, its large, spacious and a great option to stay in. The second bed is beside the fridge, so sleeping can be disrupted when the fridge motor turns on.

Great location

Texting in What’s App communication with host was good. Remote check-in & check-out (no human) was easy. I met manager when I picked up my luggage & he was helpful. Location was very good. Room was large. Ceiling of room was pretty. Bathroom was large, modern and clean. Disliked · Courtyard / entry into building is not secure. Courtyard is not locked or well illuminated. Similar courtyards on the street are closed and locked and similar entry at other BnBs and properties are locked. This was an issue for me as I encountered and was scared by non BnB guests engaged “in activities” on the stairwell. I shared my safety concern with the management and they responded. I would not return to this property unless there is a locked entry into the building &/or better lighting &/or cameras. Otherwise the property is a fair value in a lovely city.

Accommodations and location.

The room was clean, had everything we needed and a comfortable bed. Great location right in the center. Check in was easy and straightforward. Definitely recommended!

Excellent host. We booked transportation from the airport through the host and it made our arrival day very pleasant. Check in was easy. Room was good size and very comfortable for our first couple days in Sicily. Central location was walkable to everything.

So many nice touches. A free selection of free snacks and beverages. Very nice shower (great to have a bidet). The room and hotel were beautiful and interesting. The virtual concierge was a step down from a real one. For example, at my last I realized that I had forgotten the white dress shirt that went with my 3-piece suite for the wedding. The hotel front desk phoned around and found a shop that carried such shirts in my size, then ordered me a taxi. Perhaps if I had emailed Alberto, he would have done something similar for me. However, I would not have thought to ask. Also when leaving a hotel I also talk with the concierge about places to see and places to eat. Again, I could probably accomplished this through email but not as well or as easily.

Welcome staff was nice and quickly showed us to our room. Complimentary water and other drinks and snacks in the room. Bathroom was big and shower nice. It was particularly hot in Catania and like a lot of places in Italy the ac struggles to cool down the room. At that was the case here. Just not cool enough to be comfortable at night.

Room. The street and location could not be beat. One thing to note/ there was no staff on-site during the stay there so more similar to an Airbnb. The manager was extremely responsive and helpful with any questions via WhatsApp.

The rooms are in an old building, but very clean and comfortable. The location was excellent. Close to center and many cafés, markets, and restaurants. Thank you, Giuseppe. I hope to return one day.

So charming, central, convenient & comfortable! We adored it. We were jet lagged, and it was so wonderfully quiet that we overslept the next morning. Charmed ng decor, absolutely delightful. Nothing!

Parking was a nightmare. Had to go to a public lot, were accosted by aggressive panhandlers and it added to the cost of our stay. Prospective renters should know that it was very difficult to have a car.

We liked the proximity to the main attractions in Catania. We also appreciated that our host kept in touch with us and offered suggestions. Snacks and refreshments were a nice touch. Perhaps a little more rustic than I expected but that’s due to the age of the building.

Wonderful location, short walk to the Palazzo del Duomo and plenty of restaurants and cafes. Check in and check out were easy and the staff accomodating. Quaint room, quiet location.
