Wonderful hotel with beautiful views of the mountains. The staff was lovely and made us feel right at home. Youre able to opt in for their 3 course dinner every night, and the food was wonderful and very filling! If the tataki de boeuf is on the menu, make sure to join that night! The location is perfect for hiking, as you already start right in the mountains. Cablecars for Matterhorn and Mont Blanc are only about 2 hours away by car, which was super nice too! We definetly reccomend Plein Ciel for anyone who is looking for a cozy and comfortable stay To get to the hotel you have to take an unpaved gravel road for 25 minutes, this might not be the best for slick-tire motorcyclists!

Amazing place. Everything was perfect

The hotel and mostly the location of the hotel is exceptional. The staff and the owner are very friendly and the stay was great! The dinner was also wonderful Nothing to complain. During the winter you arrive by cable car, so, be prepared for it. It was a nice experience

Perfect location, lovely space renovated with taste, very friendly staff, delicious evening meals. We liked everything. Breakfast was a bit basic and bedding and bathrooms could be updated, but we had a fabulous time.

The hotel is located in the heart of nature, surrounded by a beautiful view of the mountains and a "million-star" view of the sky. There is a nice terrace where you can enjoy the view during the day and look at the sky at night. The hotel is a bit old and has a musty smell, but many parts have been renovated, and it is overall well maintained. In the pictures, it looked better, but it was still clean with an amazing view from the balcony. The breakfast was simple but had everything you needed, it was good, and everything was fresh. The jams, juices, croissants, and bread were delicious. The dinner exceeded my expectations, the taste of the food was excellent! I suggest you book both, the breakfast and dinner as there is nowhere else to eat:) The staff was very nice and polite. One of the advantages of this hotel was the private sauna room, which could be reserved just for you, though you had to book it in advance at the reception. However, there were available time slots. There are several trails around, you can walk to the small artificial lake, which has a nice view. You can also hike up to Portes du Soleil, which was a very nice hike with breathtaking views and very few people. As we went there at the beginning of November by car, I strongly advise you to follow the road signs and choose the direction toward Champery. Do not rely on Google Maps, as it suggested a route that was actually closed and private, with no road at all, a fact we discovered only a few kilometers before arriving. So, we had to descend by car, go back, and take the road to Champery, which cost us at least an hour. From Champery, there are several signs directing you to Hotel de Ciel, although we were unsure of the route at first, as it seemed to end. We had to drive through the forest on a forest road. The road is narrow, only wide enough for one car, with passing points about every 500 meters to let another car pass. It’s quite challenging, especially at night. If it starts snowing, I doubt there's any way to reach the hotel except by cable car. I was expecting a typical mountain road, as in most Swiss villages, but this one was a bit more challenging. So far, everything was good, and this comment isn’t really related to the hotel itself; it’s more of a heads up for future visitors. The only downside is that the clock in the sauna had stopped, I guess it didn’t have a battery so it was difficult to know if your time had expired, despite there being an hourglass timer inside. I’m not sure if it showed the correct time. Another thing is that it’s quite difficult to find paths to the rooms, sauna, etc. They could improve this by adding some signs to make it easier to find your way, as the layout has many levels/ buildings.

Very beautiful view outside, good breakfast.

Views are amazing, staff is nice and service minded. You need a steady nervous system to drive those roads! Breakfast could have some warm dishes, it was very plain.

Location is perfect, on top of Champery. Very nice weather in mid-October. Well run hotel, no complaints. Hotel located on top of a mountain, expectations should be accordingly. Weak wifi in some rooms, but not a problem for us.

An amazing location with outstanding views. Second to none. Staff were great. We arrived very late and missed the restaurant, but staff were able to provide bread, ham and cheese and two left over deserts despite the kitchen being shut. Would loved to have stayed longer than one night to enjoy the hotel and views. Also excellent beer! Dated room with curtain separation between room and shower sink ( door to toilet) Different rather than a problem. Very challenging drive to reach the hotel. Research the route thoroughly before hand and DO NOT use Google maps. Not the hotels fault just advice for travelers.

Fantastic location for an alpine summer visit. Good-sized room, very clean, superb view from balcony. Found the bedding a bit uncomfortable (chequered raised squares).

The view from the hotel was amazing and the staff were friendly. Breakfast and dinner was very good. I had tought time charging my elecrtric car. I had to travel all the way to Champery to charge my car. The hotel can provide an electric charging station for its customers in future.
