Great location. Really liked coffee bar next door with western/asian food. Rooom was ok, clean. Staff helpful but seemed to lose steam as week went on! Was fairly run down but had everything that was needed. Needs a good design makeover and a freshen up .

We were completely satisfied during our stay. The location allows for easy access to major streets where one could hail a tuktuk (our preferred mode of travel in Indian cities) or take an evening stroll, yet it was very quiet. The room was large enough and had great storage so that we could easily unpack our suitcases for a 5 night stay. The bed was comfortable. Down a small flight of stairs was the dining room and lounge area to which we had access at any time. We could store items in the fridge there as well. Breakfast was simple and quite good, made fresh when you sat at the table. We met a number of travelers from outside India and had some delightful conversations. The staff is exceptional! Saavite, the owner, is extremely helpful. She was always available by phone and often in person. She offered excellent advice, arranged travel, and was helpful in every way. Buddha, the gentleman who was onsite daily and cooked breakfasts, was a delight and extremely helpful. We highly recommend this property as a home base from which to enjoy Chennai. Everything was fine.

Welcoming staff. Individually cooked local breakfast. When I moved on to a different hotel the management were very cooperative and fair. Difficult to find. Even local taxi driver found it difficult find. Old plumbing and a very slippery shower floor which is a potential danger to user. Mosquitoes were a real nuisance. When I complained I was told I should have kept the door closed. After two days I moved on.

We stayed for over a week at Happy Planet and enjoyed all aspects of our stay. The owner communicated with us well ensuring a smooth check-in and stay. The onsite caretaker was professional, organized, and took care of us well. The breakfast was delicious and varied every morning; the location was perfect, next to great cafes and restaurants; and the room was spacious and clean with plenty of closet space for two. This place was a great value for all it had to offer and gave us peace of mind during our stay. The lowest setting on the wall fan was still high for us and faced the bed so we often had to get up at night to turn it off when we got cold. There was also a lack of ventilation in the room which made it stuffy and the fan necessary.

I was here during a storm, and the streets were flooded - so not a great time to do sightseeing, but i did work on my laptop - and my room was perfect for this. It's calm, huge with a lot of space and a small balcony. The bed is big and very comfortable. As well as the communal space. Buddha made a great tasty breakfast every morning and was nice to talkt to (so where the other guests). It is located a bit outside the city center and a short Tuktuk ride away from the main attractions of the city, but you will find everything you need, just around the corner. I was very happy with the accommodation! Nothing, all was good (exept the weather...)

clean, incredibly spacious, functional ac, quite and peaceful despite being right next to a busy street, access to refrigerator and kitchen. lots of storage space - ideal for long term stay No POS for credit cards. Payment eithee through cash or upi only. Limited facilities. It would have been good to access yoga mats or some basic exercise equipment. Maybe some recreational stuff like board games. Lots of space & potential in the living room to liven it up a bit
