Trust all the amazing reviews! Could not recommend Amaka enough! We stayed for over a month, and we felt like it became our home away from home. The staff was so friendly and helpful - I have many food restrictions (gluten free, vegetarian, allergies) and not only did the staff at Amaka offer options, but they made some of the best gluten free bread I've tried. Not only did they help us navigate all the excursions we wanted, but they also booked and personally communicated with all tour guides to make sure we had a good experience. Not to be forgotten, the rooms are clean, well-decorated, and provide all the comforts you could need (daily cleaning, water bottles for the hot summer days, etc). Thank you Amaka for making our trip to Chiang Mai so memorable! No cons to think of! Any issue we had, Amaka helped us navigate!

Cozy little hostel! The beds were very cozy and comfy, love the wood aesthetic. I stayed in the Amaka II building and the lobby was very small but cute. Free coffee, filtered hot and cold water and cookies! Great location off the beaten path but close to all the old city things! The bathrooms in my building needed work! Since they are just cubicle rooms, there is no ventilation and they stink! Felt like I had to hold my breath every time. Shower rooms were tight too and for some reason they have a fabric bathmat in there (switch to rubber) that is soo dingy.

I booked the Deluxe King Room — 17 square meters. The room isn’t the biggest, but it’s spotless, thoughtfully designed, and stylish. What really makes Amaka stand out is the service. The Czech owner, Ladislav, his Thai wife Urana, and their staff—especially Khun Pitta — are exceptional. They don’t just help with check-in and check-out; they genuinely look after you. Amaka’s breakfast café has that rustic-chic charm and serves simple but hearty meals. My room rate didn’t include breakfast, but I tried it once — the Arabica coffee was excellent, and the grilled cheese toast hit the spot. A bonus for long stays — the laundry service. At 70 baht per kilo, and same-day turnaround if you drop it off before 10 a.m., it’s a real convenience. All in all, Amaka Bed and Breakfast checks every box for me: great location, clean and beautifully curated rooms, and a team of owners and staff who treat you like family. For solo travelers, couples, even families, this is an excellent choice if you want a stay with genuine heart and hospitality. For me, it’s one of the most memorable places I’ve stayed in Chiang Mai — and one I’d happily return to.

Loved the place and service. The only downside is I couldn’t stay longer (were fully booked so I had to move)
-
Cute n cozy, great staff, comfortable environment, top floor has nice view and quiet but lots of stairs at the end of a street full of hostels and speed bumps, need to walk a bit to pick up grabs.
-
Beautiful spacious room! Comfortable bed, nice shower, nice staff Room was on highest floor without elevator
-
Helpful tips from the staff and cozy room for relaxing holidays. It’s worth the value to spend days in Amaka. Gotta get hot water in the public area instead of a kettle in the room is not convenient for the tea lovers.

It’s just the place to go

The staff were great and very helpful. They were able to book a tour and arrange pick-up/drop-off services for the airport. I enjoyed breakfast each day, and the location was great to walk and explore the city.

Cozy and comfortable! Nice staffs and great location. All good !

The staff is great, apartment is nice with a shower cabin. Also appreciated that its quite outside so you can sleep tight. Bed is comfortable. They give you water and you can buy it there as well (cheaply). Breakfast is also good.

This was such brilliant accommodation. The staff were lovely and helpful. We were able to pre-order breakfast with them for a particular time and book a massage - other tours were available to book as well. The room was lovely with a comfy bed and good space for luggage. The location was great to get into the old town and there are plenty of places to eat and have coffee nearby. Fantastic value for money. No downsides - just note that there are stairs and no lift.

Staff were really friendly. Room was very clean. Bed was comfortable and the sheets were really soft. N/A

The staff were extremely friendly and gave great suggestions for attractions and markets. Shoutout to Peter (sorry, I don't know the spelling) who was really bubbly and helpful. We appreciated that the room was cleaned every day with complimentary bottles of water. We really enjoyed the breakfast every morning and the time slot to enjoy the breakfast was long enough that you didn't have to wake up extremely early or feel rushed. The location was great and walking distance to many restaurants, markets, 7/11 and massage places. The hot water pressure could be better. There wasn't a lot of space to store luggage bags.
