best location and excellent aesthetics

Staff were so nice and helpful. They bought us breakfast to the room when we slept over due to arriving at 4am. Great location and good breakfast. Decor is slightly dated but think it’s the style of the old building.

The company need to invest in the property, this property is extremely old and not well maintained ( exterior / interior) . There is seepage in every room with walls damaged and a bad smell. They need to look at their price point and fix the infrastructure before having guest around .

Take earplugs as this hotel in central and we were kept awake all night with dogs barking. Not the hotels fault.

The location across the fishing nets is excellent in old Kochi. Pool was nice though we didn't use it. Size of room was nice The room had a very average view. The hotel didn't have a liquor permit or bar - though there were other places with bars just around the corner but I was traveling with my mother who wanted to stay in and relax. However the hotel did offer to send someone to pick up a bottle from the alcohol store for us to have.

The heritage aspect of the property was the reason we booked it and it didn't disappoint. It was like stepping back in time, each room is unique and it has a lovely pool area. Staff were very helpful and gave excellent service. If you want to be in the heart of Fort kochi then this is the place to stay. Wifi was a little slow at times

Good breakfast General condition of the building lots of broken tiles around the swimming pool lack of sunbeds and towels

We had two lovely nights in Fort Kochi staying in this hotel. The hotel had a lot of character and was perfectly located for sites we wanted to see and places we wanted to visit. We really liked our room with its high ceilings and ample space. It was unlike any other hotel we’ve stayed in. The breakfast was good and the coffee was actually strong, which we’ve not found to be the case during our trip around India. I’d highly recommend The pool could have opened a little earlier (say 7am) for people who like a morning swim. It also looks very different to the pool on the photos. I was quite taken by the chequered floor of the pool when looking online, but that wasn’t how the pool looked when we arrived - really not a big deal, but just to flag!

The first room that we were given was on the ground floor and did not meet our expectations. However, the staff was very attentive and immediately changed our room to a first floor one with a view to the park in front. The room was nicely furnished and the bathroom was modern and impeccably clean, with a big shower. The swimming pool area in the garden looked a bit worn, but the pool itself was very clean, and it was beautiful to be able to swim after a hot day. Also, we were able to use the pool area after our checkout, as our flight was only late at night. Breakfast was very good and there were lots of different Indian and western options.

Massive period room (huge bedroom with four poster bed, separate dressing room and large bathroom with good shower) Nice relaxing swimming pool which was great after busy days in the heat. Perfect position in central Kochi but still very quiet. Nice breakfast. Nothing - all good

Fabulous location opposite Chinese nets, close to all amenities. Good restaurants, cafes and shops all close. Tuk Tuk drivers outside give great tours very inexpensively. The swimming pool is lovely, surrounded by shady palms with lots of towels for the beds. Room 1 Alberquerque is huge, sparsely furnished with an unadorned yellow painted floor that needs re doing. It looks grubby. The aircon sounds like a tractor, shabby but not chic. Towels are not v white. We were moved upstairs to a much better room with teak floors, good quality Roman Blinds, some rugs and a better aircon. It was at the back of the hotel, no view but much quieter from street noise. The pool is lovely and sparkling clean but the surround is covered in bird droppings, one umbrella is covered in debris from trees. it could easily be cleaned up in the early mornings or after 6, it never was. One morning when the pool was full of people relaxing they brought the power hose to use on the single empty sun bed! Deafening noise! Staff are generally slow, breakfast is not immediately cleared from outside tables and crows settle on the leftovers. There is a ‘library’ of unwanted traveller’s books and used India guides. It is locked and I assumed that I could swap a book as is normal in hotels, but was told no, you have to read their books there, all are documented apparently?? I did not feel the desk staff were warm or welcoming unlike Dutch Bungalow. I asked to have a table booked at Malabar House, I was told ‘not necessary’, however, reluctantly she did as I asked. The dining room here is completely soulless and freezing cold. This hotel could be so much better. I have read reviews of similar complaints to the above. The hotel promises to address them but clearly the same complaints pop up and are not attended to. Once we moved rooms we had a lovely stay but staff need training.

Excellent location and fabulous pool. Rooms were simple and met all our needs with a view to the street and great air conditioning. A lovely heritage property with a lot of character. Nothing. It was a short stay and everything was superb.

The hotel is a real treasure - perfect location but still a quiet oasis with a nice pool and terrace. The breakfast was tasty and the staff really friendly. Nothing - everything was great
