Crianlarich Youth Hostel
About Crianlarich Youth Hostel
Crianlarich Youth Hostel is a 4-star modern bungalow-style building nestled below a forest in the Strathfillan Glen. This hostel is just over an hour's drive from Stirling and provides a great base for exploring the northern area of Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. The hostel offers private rooms, dorms, a self-catering kitchen, a lounge and dining area. There is also a drying room, access for wheelchair users and ample parking. The village of Crianlarich is the halfway point on the West Highland Way. Twenty Munros (hills) dominate the landscape, including Ben More and Ben Lui. All what we needed

This was my second stay as I walked the WHW and I was again happy with my choice. One minute away for a grocery shop, two minutes from train and 5 minutes to the bus.
-
Nice hostel with good common area facilities Beds not comfortable and noisy
-
The detour from WHW is considerable, the property food options are very limited, the beds were not comfy at all and we used our own pillow covers as it did not look very good. the location was noisy at evening
-
WiFi good in main shared areas of hostel, but non-existent in bedroom.

Sian was very helpful and always cheerful. Makes this place run like a dream! We lived our stay WiFi access poor but you can sit in the dining room and get what you need.

Great hostel, comfy common areas, lots of amenities. Great room, quite large, lots of room for everyone's luggage. Comfy bed. Nice pub less than a ten minute walk away for dinner ! There's also lots of great things to see less than an hour driver away from the hostel to see, walks, hikes etc. Nice location.

Great place to stay. Clean room and friendly staff. Breakfast was perfect for what I needed and nice and early. Nothing

The laundry machine was broken ?

Maybe a few more reading lights and a few more charging points would make it a perfect stay.

Clean, easy to locate, large open common rooms. The dormitory was on the warm side for me.

The room was large, but it smelled terrible. The bathrooms were separate from the rooms, and the women bathroom was a distance away from the room. The hallway flooring was extremely loud so you could hear every person in and out of their rooms all night long. The girl checking us in was nice but the gentlemen at check out, not so much.

It was a bit far off the W. Highland Way

The hostel has a really well equipped kitchen with everything you might need to cook. The rooms themselves are pretty standard for a hostel, as are the bathrooms. Everything was clean and the beds were comfortable.

It's a youth hostel, so I wasn't expecting the earth but had all the basics you would expect. We had been hiking the WHW, we checked in, and then about an hour later, a school checked in with around 35 children. We were staying in the boys' side of the hostel, we had the kids jumping off the bunkbeds until nearly 11 pm, running down the corridor banging on each other's doors. They were also up and banging about by 6am. I fully understand they are allowed to be there aswell but as a paying guest ourselves, it seemed that counted for nothing. We did speak to the manager, but as soon as he spoke with us, he was on the defensive and was basically this is what a youth hostel is like and would have the same problems with adults. This is complete rubbish as we stayed in rowardennan youth hostel the night before and no problems whatsoever, staff from school and hostel should have had more control to try and find a balance for all customers. If doing the WHW, I would consider other places to stay as we could have got a room cheaper down the road, unfortunately it was too late for us
