Very pleased with the service staff. Polite friendly hospitable and always happy to help. Also, great food! The place needs a revamp. Furniture and fittings are decades old. Decor needs a major upgrade. Even bath towels are so old. Also, cleanliness seems not to be a priority.

Location and outside ambiences is good our stay at The Ashok Hotel from 1st to 4th. We chose your hotel expecting the standards associated with a five-star property—cleanliness, comfort, quality hospitality, and a peaceful environment. Unfortunately, our experience was completely contrary to those expectations. From the moment we checked into our first room, we found the overall hygiene and maintenance to be far below acceptable standards. The room appeared poorly maintained and did not reflect the quality expected from a reputed five-star hotel. The most disturbing incident occurred at night when there was constant movement and noise from rats inside the room. It was shocking to witness rats in a hotel room of this category. Because of this, my young daughter was terrified and was unable to sleep throughout the night. Instead of enjoying our stay, we spent the night in fear and discomfort. After reporting the matter to your staff, we were shifted to another room. While we appreciate the room change, the second room also had similar disturbing noises, making us believe that the problem was not isolated. As a result, my family and I were unable to relax or get proper rest during our stay. In addition to the poor condition of the rooms, we were also disappointed with the overall service culture. We felt that several staff members—including housekeeping personnel, luggage attendants, and other service staff—appeared to expect tips for almost every assistance they provided. This created an uncomfortable atmosphere

Let's say that the only thing I liked about the stay was the location. This is a Govt. of India owned hotel, so you can know what to expect .... Everything else was horrible. Apparently Nehru had built this hotel in the 1950s, seems like the hotel decided to stay back in that decade.... 0. For the money you are paying, please stay at the Taj or the Met instead, horrible hotel in terms of cleanliness, clogged drains, hot water service and all else. 1. The staff members are always expecting tips, so it gets extremely frustrating after a while. 2. The breakfast buffet is not only horrible in terms of options, but the staff are pretty nonchalant about replenishing cutlery or glasses. 3. I was appalled with the state of the rooms, and the audacity of the staff to keep expecting tips after their horrible service. Once they realized I wan't going to keep tipping each time, they just stopped responding.

Location The hotel was super bad and not at all value for money. The hotel is too old and most of the things are broken. The initial room given was not cleaned at all and everything was broken. On calling reception 3 times they changed. The new room's ac was not working and they did not fix it. They showed me other rooms but everywhere some or other problem was there. Noise cancellation was not there at all. Even a slight whisper outside the room will be audible in your room. Even curtains were broken preventing the room from getting dark. Towels were of very cheap quality. Hot water was not coming. Then the plumber came in and told me to waste water for 15 mins and then only hot water would come. Even their bedsheets were too small and not comfortable at all

Where to even begin... The Ashok is anything but a 5 star hotel. From the moment you walk in, you are treated to a kafkaesque check-in process in which your time and comfort are fully disregarded. The staff couldn't be less interested in helping you. The hotel itself is among the most random setups I have EVER seen for a "luxury" property (including a bank, a "coffee shop" that is more akin to a full service restaurant, a cafe that only sells slices of cake, a fitness center that requires your PASSPORT to use and which refuses to allow you to use the normal entrance as a hotel guest). My room reeked of smoke on multiple occasions even though I had specifically requested a non-smoking floor. The bathroom, towels, and room in general were both heavily dated and dirty.
