We only stayed for about 5 minutes before we left. The accommodation did not appear to be safe. Smashed windows etc. The rooms needed a complete overall change. Beds and quilts for multiple occupancy should go. The owner or landlord needs to make drastic changes to remove clutter, improve cleanliness in the rooms and get the basics right. This accommodation was definitely not suitable for us as a family.

Staff friendliness and sincerity. Location is easy to find and closer to high street and the beach. Very cheap price. Smelly room. No power sockets at individual bunks. No other area in the property to relax and to be temporarily away from the smelly room.

Would give it a 0 I did not even receive a code to enter this property. There was a white little tiny thing on the door that looked like a bell. I pushed it nothing, knocked loudly no response. Knocked again and then yelled into the mail slot. Next door is pizza shop. I enquired if thry knew anything about the place one guy said this happens all the time. He said he saw the owner walk past the shop with his girlfriend. I phoned the given number and got a garbled response then a sound that I left a massage to come and let me in. I did this ar least 10 times. I then went to look for other accommodation. I booked 2 nights non refundable. The place should be taken off booking. And how does one get a refund due yo these circumstances. The location is very good. I stayed 2 days to explore the castle and underground tunnels before crossing by ferry to France. Booking needs to physically check these. Places some are not even very clean. All listed above

Getting inside was not as easy as it should have been, but once inside it was a good hostel. Great sturdy beds that are comfortable. Bathrooms were in the corridor and were clean. It has a good central location and for Dover this place offers good value for money. When I arrived I was in doubt the place was actually open. The pub downstairs is definetly closed and when I rang the bell nobody opened the door. After waiting outside for almost half an hour I was about to contact booking.com when someone arrived to open the door.

This is a hostel. Apparently used to be over a pub, but the pub is now out of business. This was a very low priced lodging for five of us... We all stayed in one room with one queen bed and four bunk beds. Felt like the room was pretty clean. Queen bed was quite comfy. Location was convenient, nice little cafe just down the way. Showers were very weak but the bathrooms seemed clean. Definitely no homey touches here, but being a hostel I was not really expecting that. Not sure how comfortable I'd have been with my two ladies there alone, but with me and two sons, we felt safe enough.

Beautiful building cleverly converted. Very clean. Solid beds that don’t make noise when someone turns over! Extra outlets would be great but know it’s a challenge in an 1800s building. Very unfair reviews. People forget they are getting a good value and to acknowledge individuals operate these businesses. Guests should know there are no public spaces for cooking and gathering but many choices nearby.
