It was a beautiful place. Well maintained and clean as well. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the atmosphere felt quiet and peaceful. Our favorite part was the chess area.

Beautiful! We loved having a glass of wine at night in the different sitting areas. Our room was very comfortable & spacious. This is not a big deal - we were on the 3rd floor, and it took awhile for water to get hot in the shower. We just started it early, & then it was fine. Also be aware that guest rooms are only accessible by stairs - not a big deal for us but good to know ahead of time if you have any mobility issues.

The Cotton Mansion is such a unique place to stay. What I loved most was that you could really explore the house on your own, which made it feel more like you were staying in someone’s historic home than a hotel. The shoes-off policy added to that cozy feeling—it honestly felt like living in your own Victorian mansion for a night. The location was perfect for exploring Duluth, and all the little touches and amenities throughout the house made the stay feel really thoughtful. The only small suggestion I’d have is to keep the self-serve snack shop downstairs a little better stocked. We stopped by a few times and a lot of the shelves were empty. It was a great idea and a really convenient amenity—I just wish there had been a few more options available.

Such a cozy clean room. Check in was super easy and not stressful at all! The room was romantic and beautiful. Location is great still super close to everything. Will definitely come back again!

I'm very cautious about hotels without staff onsite for check ins. I've stayed in other ones where no one helped me when something went wrong - but this hotel wasn't like that. The staff were really responsive over text and I felt pretty cared for the entire time. The building itself is gorgeous and my room was nice and clean. The neighborhood is also very beautiful. The bathtub in my room was really odd. The shower head was so high up that I struggled to handle it, and it was sort of hard to figure out how the hot water worked. Additionally, there is a huge mirror next to the tub, which I didn't particularly enjoy.

The Speakeasy room was clean and relaxing. I found myself not wanting to leave the room. Order my food to go the last night to enjoy the space a minute longer.

The mansion itself is beautiful and well maintained. I think they did about as well as possible, but it's not possible to update an early 1900s house to all the modern amenities. The internet was spotty and the layout awkward. One thing that really needed work was the bed. It advertises "premium bed" and it was definitely not premium. Whenever we got onto the bed or moved on one side, it sounded like the bed was going to break. This could easily be fixed, so hopefully they do that soon. We did like the Frame TV in the room and all the various seating areas inside and out. Also, coffee and pastries in the morning were a nice touch. If you want a unique experience, this place is worthwhile. If you want modern amenities and comfort, it may not be the place.

The interior is beautiful and exceptionally well maintained. The room were spacious and elegant. No staff anywhere. Meager breakfast of fruit, coffee, store bought muffins. Grounds not kept well - only grass and mulch. Self service everything.
