Perfect location for me near the ferry terminal, and the views over the loch were wonderful. Staff were very friendly and helpful - even found a hairdryer for me. The room was clean, with cosy bedding. It’s an old building, so not altogether surprising that the floorboards were very creaky (apologies to anyone in the room below mine). The floor sloped too so when you turned over in bed, it felt as if you might roll out! The bed was a bit too soft for me, but it might equally suit others. The bathroom, however, was quite odd. The bath was under the eaves and the shower overhead was surrounded by a curved curtain that was very big and couldn’t be pulled back along the rail. I found it near impossible to get the water temperature right.

Nice big room, big shower, lots of storage, mostly clean.lovely helpful staff. Central to the area. Squeaky floors, broken shower door, mould and mildew in the shower, needs new mattress, needs updating, could do with an iron and ironing board in the room

Breakfast was good. Staff tried to make things right and kept us informed when we had to change room. There was mould in the shower cubicle and on the bathroom sink. The toilet did not flush and we had to move room. The flush in the room we got moved to worked but only intermittently. The room window didn't close fully and this caused an unwanted visitor in a large seagull coming in to eat the biscuits (still in the wrapper) on the tea & coffee tray which suggested this wasn't the first time they had done it. We sat the kettle and cups on the window to stop them entering again. We also heard another guests who had a seagull enter their room as they could not close their window either.

Location was ok. Friendly staff, very helpful. No carpark onsite

Very friendly staff, and good location for the Doon the Water Revival music weekend The street facing rooms get a lot of noise around 2am as local bars empty, this is no fault of the hotel but worth noting

It was very close to the ferry and the shops. It was a lovely old fashioned hotel. The lift was a bit slow.

I got a double room, it was easy to find, very clean, really comfortable and had a nice view Some of the guests were noisy in the morning.

Nice me in the attached Italian restaurant. Not a dislike, but the room was a bit dated. However it was entirely as expected as we'd stayed here twice before.and for a single night getaway wasn't an issue.

Location for our plans for weekend away Everything seems a chore for the staff, from arriving when the booking was wrong at their end and receptionist scowled before fixing. The room was very, very dated, not properly cleaned (sticky coffee stains on work surfaces, needed a vacuum as we kept standing on beads clearly from a previous guest). Sheet had hole in, plug socket for kettle dangerously not in wall properly. Headboard broken and hanging off bed. Mattresses etc very much seen better days and past their best, fan in bathroom working when it wanted to but never when needed! Room not serviced during 2 night stay so had to ask for clean towels etc late at night when we returned. Majority of staff gave impression that requests were a nuisance to them. Would however single out young lads on dining duty and lady serving breakfast for their approachable attitudes. Especially gentleman (gave impression of being a duty manager?) who each time we saw him was polite, professional and friendly. Reading other reviews and looking at pictures we had higher expectations from the hotel and certainly wouldn’t recommend to friends or consider trying others in the group
