The Grand Hotel Eastbourne

Location was perfect and we loved the old fashioned style decor. No A/C and the room was extremely hot. A fan was provided but given the extreme heat ut wasn’t very effective.

Breakfast was good, but we were not advised of alternative breakfasts other than what was on show, as a menu was not on the table and staff did not convey this to us. Thought the rooms were looking a little tired. Comfy chairs in the lounge and bar needed the upholstery to be cleaned. However we do like staying there and will be back for 3 other visits this year.

Pool and other leisure facilities . Breakfast was very good. Room and ensuite bathroom tired and need updating. Bed was too soft for comfort. The main issue was that we were kept awake by a constant noise throughout the night .At 3am we discovered that the ill-fitting sash window was loose and banging against the frame.We managed to create a wad of card to jam into the space.When we mentioned this at reception whilst checking out, we were told this was a common problem and that wedges were available. In that case why wasn't one placed in the room with an explanatory note ? We had a totally sleepless night. The receptionist showed a total lack of empathy. For a so-called 5star hotel this is unacceptable.

Beautiful building. Good location. Great staff. Very nice room. Bar and restaurant very attractive. Very good food breakfast and dinner. No charge for parking. The courtesy of the bar and dining room staff was exceptional. Nothing that we did not like.

Had a love stay Could have had slipper in room . A gown would have been nice so I did not have to walk around in my costume. Could do with second fan . As do hot in room.

Outside space was nice, fantastic setting and building. Staff were less than adequate. There was a wedding on so can only assume more experienced staff were dealing with the wedding party while we had new/inexperienced staff. People were actually leaving to go elsewhere as service was poor.

Room quite big. Room service reliable. Food ok. Room smelled so had to move. Water not v. clean. Hotel had deteriorated from last year.

Every thing No minibar

Great position, pleasing entrance and welcome. Very comfortable and close, easy walk to station, and position along promenade. Took too long to answer phone to order food in bedroom. Took 4 attempts and all in the allocated time described. Irritating that the QR code didn’t show how the bedroom’s coffee pod machine worked!
