No refrigerator in room. No coffee onsite. Great fitness center and real nice outside pool and hot tub.

Unpleasant Experience at The Stanley Hotel-Our stay at The Stanley Hotel was disappointing and did not meet our expectations. Upon arrival, we were booked at the Aspire Lodge located on the property but were unable to check in until 4:00 PM. Having a bad knee, I specifically requested handicap accessibility, but the assigned room, while on the first floor, had steps immediately inside the entrance leading down to the beds. This arrangement was far from ideal for someone needing accessible accommodation. The air conditioning in the room was not functioning, and staff advised us to simply open the window. This suggestion was problematic due to extensive construction taking place throughout the hotel grounds. Heavy equipment, such as rock haulers, frequently passed on the road directly outside our room, adding to the disturbance. After two hours of waiting on our original booked room, hotel management eventually relocated us to the main hotel. However, they informed us that we would be charged for the additional room since no queen beds were available. The pervasive noise, dust, and presence of cranes surrounding the property made for an uncomfortable environment, with construction activity beginning at 7:00 AM each day.The rooms were small and lacked chairs, further diminishing the comfort of our stay. The staff was not very friendly, and there was no handicap parking available onsite. The overall parking situation was difficult, with only an overflow lot provided which was dirt!

Had a lot of fun lots to see

I paid over US400/per night and found the room was terrible. No complimentary water so the coffee machine won’t work. I reserved a king size bed room but only one chair so my wife had to sit on bed when we eat together. No fridge in the room, and the worst, the elevator was broken. We paid high price and found the room assigned has no views at all. New construction site right outside my windows so you had to wake up about 8am because of the noise on the construction site. Anyway, won’t recommend it to any friends.

The History and beauty of the Hotels took our breath away.

    Great hotel!

That was a huge disappointment. All the views... destroyed.

We had a great time at the Stanley. Glorious old building and grounds with lots to do and really good food. Historical tour was fun and enjoyed watching the ghost tour groups go past. Our room could use some updating, but at least most everything was in keeping with the history of the hotel. The construction going on did not bother us and while parking can be a challenge, we always found a spot.

Lots of construction going on while we were there May 2026

Beautiful old hotel. We had an issue with cleanliness of our bed, and the staff addressed this immediately and to our satisfaction. Not a quiet place- all rooms have portable AC (the building is OLD and has no central air), and this is noisy. Walls are also fairly this so you will hear your neighbors. Beautiful scenery and architecture. Highly recommend!

I didn’t realize I wasn’t booked into the main hotel. Maybe that was my fault and I somehow missed that, but it was disappointing. I ended up at a newly built portion, the Apsire. It is down the hill from the main hotel, so I had to walk up and back for dinner & for a tour. That maybe wouldn’t have been so bad but there is a TON of construction going on, so the ambiance of the grounds is not really happening right now. Plus as a solo female traveler I didn’t like wandering back and forth by myself. As for the Aspire itself, the room was really cramped. There was a bed with 2 end tables, an armoire & a desk under the TV. But there was no chair - or room for one. So I sat on the edge of the bedframe and balanced my feet against the desk to watch TV. No fridge- had to keep going to get ice for drinks. But the worst was the smell. There was some weird chemical smell that was so bad I had to sleep with the bathroom fan on. I will say the bathroom was nice with a soaker tub. But overall I was very disappointed in my stay. Would not recommend staying at the Aspire. And be sure you check if you are booking the Stanley that you don’t end up there.

Very few, if any, room amenities. Elevator was out of order so had to carry luggage up stairs to 3rd floor. No one was attempting to fix the elevator. Construction going on so very limited parking. Bar at Cascades was nice. Staff was nice, too. Disappointed thought for $500 per night.

My issues are the extensive construction taking place that was noisy, dirty and which compromised beautiful views. (Not on the weekend) We changed our room since we did not want to look out at a construction site. (The staff was very accommodating.) The new room had a very comfortable bed and lots of hot water. Furniture was vintage (as expected)and lighting was rather dim. Parking for hotel guests was very difficult due to the many visitors taking tours of the hotel. The elevator did not work in the Lodge (where we stayed). The housekeeping staff comes every three days yet did not empty the trash nor replenish the coffee Nespressos. The food at The Cascades was disappointing. I am mentioning these issues to inform future guests so that they can come prepared.

The staff was extremely helpful. The room was kind of dirty but it is super old so we didn’t really feel the need to complain. Had a little bit of strange activity overnight but again was to be expected.

    Very nice would recommend

Hotel did not make any mention of massive construction on their campus and is overrun with tours. The Stanley is badly is in need of updates and not worth the room rate.

  • Engine customer Aug 2026

The property is under going major construction! Should notify prospective guests

  • Engine customer Aug 2026

We went to the Post for dinner, was told they were fully committed for the evening. No other options offered, very curt and rude female hostess. The parking was a mess with all the construction and people! We did a ghost tour which was great! The guide was fun and engaging.
