Outstanding Riad/hotel in a beautiful building in a perfect location next to the Medina but still accessible by taxi which was critical as it was pouring rain when I arrived. The suite has 14’ ceilings, was comfortable and warm with a ridiculously plush bed. Room filled with antiques. Huge bath. Good WiFi. Well I’m being critical so, armoire/ closet was disfunctional. Hanging rod height would work for toddler clothes but not adult. Doors disfunctional on it too. No table or shelf space at pedestal sink for all my small amount of gear. A woman would want more and sink light was useless for illuminating face. Bathroom design was for look and not functionalality and needs to be both. 2 trash receptacles, one in bath and one in room. When housekeeping comes to do their job replace used tea and sugar please. This list really is addressed to hotel management as no one asked me how my stay was, and it was great, but it could be functionally much better.

Location and service! And Riad feel! Riad feel and furnishings!

The Staff Service is outstanding; the location is very convenient to the old Madina; the food, including the dinners and breakfast is very authentic Moroccan cuisine; the nightly entertainment is fun; if you know Arabic, you would appreciate the Songs and the skillful Oud instrument mastery! The Rooms were cleaned daily and the towels were replaced daily. It is a repeat hotel for our Stay in the future.

Breakfast was great, more food than we could eat.

Amazing old riad, very helpful staff. We were confused between this hotel and the other Riad Maison Bleue which is in a totally different class on the other side of town. We thought we'd booked the other riad and moved to it paying a supplement for two nights. The Maison Bleue is an authentic house from the early 1900s. It maintains that style of decor which we found rather heavy and fusty. Little natural light. No bar but a drinks trolley service.

There is a lot of nice tile, the courtyard and room is very beautiful. The property is clean. We stayed here two nights and had dinner. I never write bad reviews. As my grandma says if you don’t have anything nice to say then keep it to yourself. But Fes is so wonderful and folks come a long way to get here so they should have the opportunity to have the best experience. And this place is uniquely bad. The staff is totally checked out. No one wants to be bothered. Fantastically overpaid for a dinner. When asked about the wine waiter said it’s all Moroccan, it’s all good. When asked if he knew anything more or which one he could recommend, he flatly said no. When asked if anyone knows more because I was interested in Moroccan wine he laughed and said he knows the most. Food arrived. It’s mountains of something. A pile of couscous with a tiny bit of veal. A heap of grey/green peas and grey lamb tagine. It’s a single flavor and resembles slop. It’s $50/ person. There is no chef, no love, obviously but there are some cooks back there making sure to feed us, but nothing else. They are robbing you of the opportunity for a decent or maybe even great meal somewhere else. The room is full of tour groups with a guide. The guides get kickbacks. Im sure it looks great on the brochure, but the food is terrible and the service is worse. Mystery wine was $40. Wine was fine. Fes is really not that daunting, trust me you don’t need a guide. Your gps works. Music was great. So that’s was a bonus. When leaving we asked for a taxi. Reception told us to go outside and flag one. A bit exhausted from all the Medina haggling and begging I asked him if he could do it. He said he will just fight with them. Didn’t want to do it. I asked again he begrudgingly found a taxi but was very annoyed. Family got a weeks worth of laundry done. It was $125. Bottom line this place is terrible and you should not stay or eat here. There are much better options in fes which has delightful architecture and wonderful hospitality throughout. But just not here.

The breakfast is fairly simple containing a variety of bread, cake and pastry items alongside coffee (or tea if you ask). Fresh squeezed orange juice, meat slices (beef), yogurt, egg and cheese are also provided. Aziz patiently attended to special requests and was always very polite. I often asked for him to fill a thermos of hot water during my stay and he was always polite and accommodating. The room we booked had a bath tub that did not work, which we absolutely required. We had to take a downgraded room without a patio in order to have a functioning bath tub. The room was supposed to have coffee /kettle facilities but none were available in room. This meant if you wanted coffee or tea in room you needed to go down to the restaurant to ask for it. Normally not a big issue but if you were on our original booked room there are seven levels of narrow winding stairs to navigate up and down. Be warned if you stay here you must be in decent shape to navigate the very narrow and steep stairs to all the rooms. And you may need to climb quite a few levels. The staff will handle your bags but it is hard on them also! The room also lacked disposable (or any) slippers which I consider absolutely mandatory for this type of establishment and price point. We luckily had some with us but they really should be provided in room as it is cool floors, and frankly the floors are old so they are perfectly clean. There is a A la carte menu in room but when we asked we can only order a set menu with very limited choices, for approx 40 euro per head. Upon looking at other guests plates we determined this was drastically overpriced especially compared to proper 5 star resort meals we had elsewhere in Morocco.

Beautiful ambiente and service - amazing room and enterieur. Every cent worth.

The riad is beautiful and the staff is exceptionally helpful and friendly. Breakfast every day was way more than we could eat and had a huge variety. We had dinner one night and the food was delicious and we had excellent service. Our room was huge and had a big bathroom. The location to the Souk was perfect, everything we did seemed to be no more than a 15 min walk. There wasn’t anything we didn’t like but some things of note…there is not an elevator and the stairs are steep and narrow and the bathroom in our room was beautiful but you have to go down 5 tall stairs to access it.
