Old furniture and facilities. Had a noisy room, the one closest to reception. Feels like the price is quite inflated.

Location. All else was horrid. Was the worst experience of my life in terms of hotels. There was an ongoing electrical problem - the lobby was unsafe as wires were dangling from the ceiling. There was a conflict regarding late check out. We agreed we could stay 4 extra hours (11:00 extended to 15:00) for a late flight. Upon checkout they rescinded and wanted to charge half the daily rate. We contested, they held us hostage by security. Even offered pro-rata payment but they refused. We were forced to pay the ransom.

The location and the staff approach.

Someone on the staff member was called me at the night I arrived for payment even though I have told them I am tired I will come to talk to them tomorrow morning but they demand me to come to the reception desk.
-
The staff was friendly and attentive. The arrive lounge can be updated.

I'm been having a back and forth battle with this hotel over the amount I was charged on both my recent stays. In its response to my review, it says it prefers cash. It says that NOWHERE. It's not even mentioned at check in. Despite what it says, the hotel is overcharging its customers and it knows it. It's a shame and it's left a very bad taste in my mouth. Because of this, I CAN NOT RECOMMEND this property. If you don't pay in cash in US dollars, you will be charged its much inflated cash exchange rate. My amounts when I booked as per booking.com were $122.30 and and $183.60. These amounts turned into $130 and $201 after its own exchange rate was used. It came out to even more when it came through my bank because of the exchange rates. In the end, I was about $50 out of pocket. That's not what I agreed to. I was quoted a price. Sky Inn, under booking.,com rules, should honour that price. As booking.com states, "The final price shown is the amount you will pay to the property. Booking.com does not charge guests any reservation, administration or other fees. Your card issuer may charge you a foreign transaction fee." It doesn't say SKY INN can whatever it wants when you check out. If it's such at to-do for the hotel banking wise, charge more to begin with. Also, tell the person the rules at check in. It's not good to say nothing and then charge them extra at the end of their stay. I trusted Sky Inn. It broke that trust. Every other hotel on my recent trip, more than 30, charged me the exchange rate on the day. Sky Inn should have done the same. It didn't. It's probably against booking.com rules too. Yes, we did come an agreement, but that's not the point. The point is what Sky Inn is doing is wrong and potential customers need to be aware of what it's doing. My final amount was an increase of 10 to 15% in the end. That's not what I agreed to when I made the booking.

The staff It needs investment, a fresh paint etc. Great staff though. WiFi was a problem but that’s the city’s problem not the hotels.

Free transfer to Seacoach ferry terminal was provided There are security guards at entrance of courtyard leading to hotel One of the reception staff tried to help Too many to list or remember. Bathroom door could not be closed as it was clearly bigger than the frame. Many sockets do not work. Several sockets are high up like 2m from the floor, and impractical for use. Kettle switch was broken and I initially thought it was not working but the problem were the sockets. With a functional socket, kettle did work but with switch broken, plug had to be manually taken off the socket to stop water boiling. Was told there was no other kettle. Many of these problems cannot have happened just when I used the room. It is just that they have not been sorted as they are not judged important, or some people could not be bothered to take corrective measures. Had problems getting hot water and was told on phone to turn the tap towards the red side but the colour was not visible and had been erased with ageing. Reception staff either unaware or not bothered. Housekeeper was using the bed cover such that it was covering the protruding edge and at least thrice I knocked my knee with the protruding edge of the bed which I could not see. Reception staff seems unable to take any decision or arrange anything like transport without asking the manager who usually was around but not in reception area. Often the answer was "we'll ask him when we see him". Breakfast served from 7 to 9 am. As I was leaving at 6.45 am, I asked if I could be served or given a pack earlier, but the answer from the person serving breakfast was simply no. Frequent electricity supply interruptions, sometimes for 15- 30 minutes in the morning. Hotel itself is not known to most taxi drivers or residents. Difficult to get transport outside the hotel. Probably better off choosing a hotel or guest house in Aberdeen.
