Amazing view & host Road a bit narrow going up but manouverble

What a view! For that view you need to drive a road that some people would find difficult. But you get used to it and the locals are so understanding and assertive to help where they can to let you pass by. The breakfast was a typical Italian breakfast with good strong coffee and sweet pastries (every day something different). This small B&B is run by a very kind and warm family, where nothing is too much to ask. The son speaks good English and is happy to give suggestions for a good experience at the Como lake (places to visit/relax/shop, foods to try, hikes). The parents only speak Italian, but they are so heartwarming and kind that it doesn't matter and the charm wouldn't be the same without their personality.

Very kind host, a view of the lake, ravine, and the old village.

There was nothing we did not like. We spent 10 days driving around trying to find the real Italy and (un)fortunately found it on our last day! The staff were amazing. A lovely family who helped with everything possible. Apart from the manager, not much English is spoken so prepare for the proper Italian experience. We would have loved to stay longer. Expect a fun drive/trip to get there and beautiful views. To top it off, my car broke on the way there and the father bought me some bits to help me get it going again. Really lovely family!

Great location with wonderful views of Lake Como. If you want an authentic experience of Italian mountain villages this is for you. Michele speaks great English and was able to offer us helpful advice about the local area. The road up to the village is very steep with lots of sharp bends. It's fine if you know what to expect.

Neat and clean with the sweetest family hosting it A bit off grid

I loved the location as it gives an awesome view around the mountains. The host is very friendly and gives honest information. The beds were very comfortable and bathrooms were clean. Breakfast was delicious. The roads towards hotel location are bit difficult. There was no lift so had to carry heavy bags on 2nd floor.

Not easy to get there if you're scared of heights but the experience to stay in that little town is something you will NEVER forget!!!!! One of my best experiences of my life! The view...... the view ...the view and the hospitality ..... and then the hot chocolate!!!!! Nothing!!! It was great!!!

Paradoxically, for a country that (arguably) has the best food in the world, breakfast in Italy is often a disappointment, with mainly pre-packaged, processed pastries and crispbread. At Zia Maria it was little different, BUT they went out of their way to provide me with fresh bread and soft-boiled eggs. So special thanks to Michele and his mum, Loredana, who were extremely kind, even providing the local speciality, Braschino, plus Cappucino from the family-owned bar downstairs. Note that there's a small general stores attached to the bar! It's possible to order pizza from 'da Jean' in Gerzeno, which is then delivered. The rooms were super-clean with nice, spacious bathrooms, but Calasco, the hamlet, is near the bottom of the valley, 200 metres of altitude below the main village, Garzeno, where there are some shops and restaurants. Other than the BnB Zia Maria and the attached bar/general store, there is nothing in Calasco except beautiful nature. For people walking the Monti Lariani trail, stopping for the night, there is hardly any waymarking/signposting to and from Calasco, so you'll have to rely on your apps. The road from Dongo to Calasco is very narrow in places, requiring careful driving!

The place was really nice and worth for the price we paid. The guy at the reception was super nice and welcoming and so were the people in the village. I would definitely recommend this place to others.
