We’ve stayed at Hutton Central Hotel so many times we’ve honestly lost count — it’s become our absolute favourite spot on the island! The location is unbeatable: tucked along lively Hutton Lane, you’re just steps away from amazing food, charming heritage streets, and all the best that George Town has to offer. Yet, once you’re inside, the hotel feels wonderfully calm and peaceful, giving us the perfect balance between convenience and quiet. The neighbourhood itself is a gem. Great cafés, kopitiams, and local eateries are all within walking distance, and iconic streets like Campbell Street and Chulia Street are just around the corner. Whether we’re heading out for breakfast, exploring murals, or doing a little shopping at Chowrasta Market, everything is effortlessly close. The apartment is consistently fantastic — clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully equipped. The washer dryer is a total game changer for us, especially during longer stays. It’s one of those small conveniences that makes the whole experience feel even more like home. Every stay here has been a great one, and we’re already looking forward to our next visit. Hutton Central Hotel never disappoints, and we can’t wait to come back! None to speak of.

Location. Spacious. Facility. No smart TV (No Netflix). Wear and Tear. No on-site staff.

We stayed here in 2024 and chose to stay again for this visit in 2026. Obviously, we like the place! The facilities are very good, the bed is comfortable, washing machine excellent. We had one small problem with one of the power circuits tripping the switch and there was someone there to fix it very quickly. 10/10 for service. The layout is a bit unusual, long and narrow with the bedroom at one end and the bathroom at the other end. The living area is very functional and comfortable. Location is also great, close to lots of the main areas of Georgetown or just a short GRAB ride.

The bedroom is too close to traffic, was a bit noisy at night. Would be better to improve on soundproof of the room.

Bit run down, smelt of cigarette smoke, can be loud due to the nearby traffic (or music playing downstairs)

The hotel is nicely located within the George Town UNESCO Historic Site (close to restaurants, ages, a motorbike rental shops) and the room is quite spacious, with a separate living room and basic kitchen facilities and a washing machine provided. The room was cleaned every day and supplied with water. We had no complaints about the apartment really. The reception staff isn’t there all the time, so if you need something, you have to catch them at the right moment or call them- the number is displayed at the door of the hotel.

Unprofessional Conduct, Premature Denial of Room Access, and Guest Inconvenience I wish to place on record a formal complaint regarding the conduct of a hotel staff member named Seyviar, whose actions resulted in unnecessary distress and serious inconvenience during our stay. Although Seyviar eventually confirmed and extended our check-out time to 2:00 PM, the situation was handled in an unacceptable manner. Prior to this, another staff member, Shafiq, had already approved our request for late check-out until 2:00 PM. Despite the confirmed extension, before 2:00 PM, Seyviar blocked the smart lock passcode that had been issued to us at check-in, without any prior notice or warning, while our occupancy was still valid. This action effectively denied us access to our room during the approved stay period. When we returned to the hotel at approximately 1:15 PM, we discovered that the passcode no longer worked. We were forced to contact the hotel again to request a new passcode and, in the meantime, had to wait in the open corridor under extremely hot weather (approximately 35°C). As the hotel is operated from shop-lot units, there is no enclosed or air-conditioned corridor. While I was able to tolerate the conditions, two members of our group are senior citizens, and subjecting them to such conditions was unreasonable and showed a lack of due care for guest welfare. This incident reflects a failure in internal communication, poor operational control, and lack of professionalism, particularly in prematurely disabling room access despite an approved late check-out. Such conduct falls below acceptable hospitality standards. For completeness, I wish to commend Daniel, who was polite, helpful, and professional during our check-in. His conduct stood in stark contrast to the experience described above.

Has to access through a long staircase.

A very strategic location near to Chowrasta market and all around restaurants. Spacious property and comfortable bed. There’s no pick up zone. So make sure you be quick and ready when you get picked up by grab/taxi.

We’ve stayed here so many times we’ve lost count—it’s our favorite spot on the island! The location is perfect: close to everything you need, yet far enough to enjoy peace and quiet. The apartment is well-equipped, and the washer-dryer is a game-changer for us. Always a great experience, and we can’t wait to come back! None at all!

It was in a great location and the room was great

Location - so close to a lot of restaurants and attractions. Room size is huge - with a living room, dining area & kitchen, even the toilet is big Amenities provided is similar to airbnb or a homestay Street parking - there is no designated parking for guest. The close proximity to the main street means, it can be a bit noisy for light sleepers. You can hear vehicles passing through especially all those modified motorcycles and cars.

We had a little apartment with a nice floorplan with the bedroom at one end, living room/kitchenette in the middle and bathroom at the other end. Instead of a key, we used an access code to unlock the door. This worked so much better than a key card. The AC in the bedroom was very weak so we often woke up hot and sweaty. The bedroom ceiling much higher than the living room so the fan and cool air never seemed to reach us. The bedroom also faced a fairly busy street so there was significant street noise - mainly motorcycles. Usually the noise died down around 11pm and started again around 7am.

The apartment hotel is located on the second floor, and the location is very convenient with plenty of shops within walking distance. The staff were also very kind and accommodating. Highly recommended! Nothing in particular — overall, everything was great. My only small suggestion would be to add more lighting in the kitchen and bathroom, perhaps with brighter fixtures or a standing lamp. It would make the space feel even more comfortable.

Just noisy from the road

Staff respond too late and waiting time also too late, management should do better way for make sure its wont happen again.

Can be a bit noisy as it faces the main road. TV reception can be problematic. Need to keep rebooting the digital signal. No soap for hand wash in the toilet. Suggest to put a liquid hand wash.

Location was spot on.. a great coffee place just round the corner. then famous halal char kuateow also walking distance. and 2 mamak shop across each street. you wont be hungry!! Aircon at the living room was weak.. just blowing warm air.. we all had to sit in room to cool down. Need to check on that Admin!
