Great location, large room and friendly service

Breakfast was really good. Good spread of continental with local favourites. Room was also good. Cleaning service daily is available. And all amenities were provided - kettle, water filter, coffee/tea, small fridge, tv, etc. Gym could be better equipped and bigger as it looked too small and cramped if there were many people using the few equipments and the pool looked nice although I didn't use it.

I'm always reminded that we a great staff and service provided by the hotel it is always something you'll remember and will be on your mind when you plan your next vacation and Penang Royale Chullan has provided that. Clean and cool room, great shower, good pool and a good breakfast spread. Tried the room service and the food was delicious. The parking is small, but do understand that it is because of the area it self. Wish the parking next to the hotel was owned by them but I don't think that is the case.

The breakfast was excellent with a wide variety of food from different cultures. The hotel was located in the old town a short walk from the ferry. Our room had a view of cruise ships. Good swimming pool Only a small issue but no hand towels were provided in the bathroom

It took a day to get used to the front entrance not being on a street, but rather around back next to another car park. It turns out, that had a bonus with the food center being there, too.

I loved everything about the place. The parking for guests was convenient, easy and safe to be accessed. You just need to pay a one-time fee of RM5 and it will be free the rest of the stay. As you enter the lobby, the ambience, the smell was so pleasant, we wanted to find out so much what they used ? the rooms were sufficiently pleasant. Not too luxurious but just enough, i love the color blue which still gave the rich look (this is just my personal view! I’ve been to other renown hotels that had much older decos). Toilets were clean, breakfast was great and the staff were all superbly helpful and polite. None!

It sends you to Komtar (Shopping Mall and Central Bus Terminus). It's a circular service. 5. Direct Public Bus Route 401E from the Airport (about 1 hr travel time) to Jetty has a stop outside the Hotel [MYR 2.7 in Apr2026] 6. Good Air-Con 7. Strong Water Pressure for Bathing 1. Deposit MYR200 is deemed unnecessary given Full Rate was paid!!! 2. Few hanging facilities inside the bathroom 3. Only 4 hangers in the wardrobe are available by default. Need to ask for more if required 4. Location: Near Jetty but need to walk 5 mins 5. Main Entrance is far from Main Road 6. TV Model is considered old 7. No small spoon is available in serving the Breakfast 8. No public bicycle is parked outside the Hotel for renting

Check in was very simple. Our room was spacious and clean, had a view of the pool and the pier and was right by a seldom used lift (that was never noisy). Every staff member we encountered was friendly and those at the front desk went above and beyond with helping us whether it was booking a nail salon or trying to find a lost Grab driver who eventually cancelled on us! I was sad to leave this lovely hotel and would like to return some time. We have nothing to say here.

The spacious room, comfortable beds although the pillows are to firm. We requested a softer pillows and they were a little bit better, just a little bit. We also requested the bath robes and they made our stay very comfortable. Clean linings, fluffy white towels, a faucet with the filtered water right is installed in the room, so not need to request water bottles. A complimentary tea, snacks, instant coffee. The staff is very friendly and helpful. A welcome drink was very refreshing. Hotel is strategically located, close to everything we wanted to visit. A gym could be a little bit better. A sanitizer spray should be provided to disinfect equipment. The yoga mats are very old and very dirty. The breakfast buffet has a lot of choices but not for the strict vegetarian/vegan. At least a better selection of the local fruits should be offered.

I stayed for 4 nights in the Royal Chulan Hotel and it was a very pleasant and comfortable stay. The breakfast spread was abundant and had a huge variety of items. The hotel was a good spot from which to explore the beautiful city of Penang.

Easy walk to cool area with shops restaurants, groceries, art, ferry to Butterworth, marina , historic jetties. Walk to spectacular sunrise! Breakfast with lots of choices. Loaned a plug adapter. Nice pool. Tiny Gym just ok. Room a little musty smelling, needs a more thorough cleaning. Filtered water at the tap nice feature! More thorough cleaning needed but addressed with the staff

We came a second time, because our first stay was wonderful! We were upgraded and everything was just perfect! The second time we were in a "normal" room and the service was not as good. We didn't have any of the staff from before ...maybe that was it. But we enjoyed our stay anyway! Great pool, breakfast, taxi driver just outside the hotel (uncle showed us a bit of reality penang and we had very interesting times with him)... I would love to come back!
