Location + beautiful room very comfortable

  • Engine customer Jun 2026

The self check-in was very smooth. The room was spacious and nicely decorated. The bed was very comfortable, especially the pillow.

  • Engine customer Jun 2026

The room, including overhead and bathroom lighting was very dark and there is no door to the bathroom.

There is no one at the desk, when calling the property for help they were dismissive and rude There was a terrible perfume smell in our room, when we complained they said the windows can’t be opened because of the fire department and we should just put the perfume bottle outside the door. There was no help, no one excusing. In the end the windows could easily open…

-I have mixed feelings with checking in process; I like it is self check-in but the automatic instructions must be improved. The links are not easy to find or working at all. -Nice interior design -It is an old building, so no sound proof, I was hearing people walking in the room upstairs. -The bathroom has mold problems, needs proper cleaning. -The air conditioning system is not the best; heating is too noisy and not possible to switch off the fan in the bathroom, it is switched off in the nights only.

Nice, but cleaning could be more thorough and the ventilation is a bit loud. Breakfast corner is cool, though

Location We were not the right fit for this style of hotel. We prefer dealing with people at the desk rather than technology. Any questions we had went unanswered. It would be helpful for booking.com to have a way of indicating if the hotel had staff on site before we book.

The only minor issue was that we were in room 9 which is at the top and very dark. There are two minor lights on headboard and the one lamp in the corner which was much needed to be able to see....the bulb was burned out. There is no staff to ask for a new bulb. The very busy chef said an electrician could be there in the next morning. I found a housekeepers closet with no light bulb supplies. I did end up using my iPhone, and it seems that they could up their game just a tad bit because it would have been nice to be able to see in the area where the bed is located. The ceiling lights in bathroom area were not sufficient to light the room. I tried to find a store with light bulbs, and I was unsuccessful. This 'do it yourself' model of no staff is new to me.

As a 1m89 tall person, the roof room (Z) was sometimes a bit too small

The location is fantastic, the historic buildings are beautifully restored, and fhe rooms are comfortable and charming. The breakfast offerings are basic but it's still nice to have a little something in the morning, and the lobby / breakfast area is quite charming. The front desk functions are mostly automated but there was always a helpful person nearby when needed. And there is a really good, small Michelin-starred restaurant in the building, plus lots of interesting restaurants from around the world quite nearby--so overall we loved this place. My room, although charmingly up under the eaves, had an endless stream of mechanical system noise going in the ceiling -- which I found both annoying and also incongruous for the setting and location. A peaceful historic house in a quiet neighborhood but the BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ never stopped. Never. Also, the stairs seemed somewhat treacherous. We expected stairs and anticipated that they would be old and narrow rom side to side, but we didn't expect narrow and small front to back -- and worn from age front to back as well. There's not a lot of stair left on some of those steps and they were quite alarming to one of the people in my party. But I want to end this on a positive note so will just add that everything was really charming, including the stairs.

Walking distance from the center. Very stilysh room on the last floor. Possible parking on the street right in front of the door. Automated check in and check out system. Very dark room due to lack of proper lighting (we had to dissassemble the abajour cover to get a bit more brightness). EXTREMELLY annoying home automation system (click to toggle function, very sensible and with a 2s delay at times). Bathroom has no door and its all in glass, which results in a stylish room but little to no privacy. Very challenging to carry luggage up the stairs due to 2 narrow circular staircases. Little amount of free wall sockets.

The rooms were very spacious. Walking distance to most historic attractions.

There wasn't any parking spot near the hotel where you could park for more than 3 hours, but in general it was good

Everything How can we rate the staff when there are no staff?

  • Engine customer Apr 2025

This is indeed a very centrally located, old-style "vintage" decorated hotel: all as You may find on a provided pictures. Wood ceiling, old-tiles floor and all this 17-18 century surrounging feeling. What was really disgusting and embaraccing is a Toilet (WC) with no partiton at all. So, basically, if You are with Your beloved girlfriend staying together and then - in the middle of the night, You need to make "heavy things" - this is all happening just in front of Your Bed. It reminds be Cell in a Prison: there is also WC "in the middle of the room" with no partitions. My mentality truly dont understand where was the problem at a minimum to hang a curtain or make a Glass Door. If this is called a "French style" then this is a separate "Cosmos" which I dont appreciate. Next time, I will be more carefully reviewing bathroom picture to avoid this. TV didnt show any channels from Set-top-box but luckily I came with my PC and HDMI cable, so I watched my own subscription and movoes.
