I had a fantastic stay in this traditional two-story home in Kanazawa. The space was impeccably clean and felt very authentic. The layout worked well for us, with two comfortable beds upstairs and a traditional futon setup in the other room. Having access to a fully functional kitchen and a washer downstairs made the stay very convenient, and the location itself was wonderful—it was incredibly quiet and tucked away from the city noise. We would love to stay here again. While the house itself was lovely, there were a few logistical challenges. The unit is quite far from everything, and since it is not located near the main reception office, the check-in process was a bit of an ordeal, requiring two separate taxi rides and consuming nearly half of our day. Additionally, there was some frustration regarding our shipped luggage; it required quite a bit of back-and-forth arguing to convince the staff to have the bags delivered to our unit rather than forcing us to travel back to the office to retrieve them ourselves. However, they were ultimately able to accommodate our request and get the luggage to us, which we greatly appreciated. Despite the initial check-in hurdles, it was a memorable and peaceful stay.

Beautiful little house, great amenities in the kitchen and bathroom. The location is a short walk from the Higashi Chaya district and close to bus stops. Also right next to a local Sento that we could visit in the evening. The beds could be more comfortable, also the exit light upstairs made it harder to sleep, but had to just wear an eyemask.

Just one sink for both the kitchen and the bathroom but it is a minor downside after all…

Amazing Cozy Spot!! Better than the pictures!

Quiet area The building seemed quiet old with thin walls, very cold, dark inside, very noisy air conditioner. We were given notes in advance to say we need to keep our voices quiet in order not to disturb the neighbours, but as soon as we switched on the air conditioning it sounded like an airplane was actually taking off…So we both ended up getting a cold….but luckily we only stayed one night.

We had a whole, small house to ourselves. It was in, what we imagine to be a common Japanese modern style, so a real insight into daily life here. It required some adaptation, for example the furnishing is sparse and the heating is electric heaters (with air con too) on each floor.

The “traditional japanese style” renovated interior, space, possibility to sleep on futon as well “normal” bed The self check in procedure and attention to the emergency phone number needs improvement

Very clean and wide space! We loved the kimono’s they put out for us and the traditional house experience! It is a little far from Nikko hikes and Kanazawa onsen, but Japan’s metro system is so nice.
