Love the Onsen and food was fabulous!!! Only complaint I had was that I need more towels. Loved it.

a tiny bit far from the main train station and a small walk from the bus stop

The dinner was wonderful. The breakfast was also very nice. Both came out in multiple courses and work carefully prepared to explore cultural dishes. The rooms themselves were very small for the price and the view was nice, but not as impressive as I’d imagined from the pictures. There was construction ongoing right in front of the property and the onsen itself was quite small and faced a wooden wall.

It was off the beaten path in Hakone which got us farther away from the high tourist traffic. The staff was wonderful. I ended up getting a bad sinus headache and they gave warm compresses which really saved me. We had a small mix up with the times we were booked for the onsen but it ended up working out for the best as we got to enjoy a soak at night during a light rain. It was incredibly peaceful. This hotel is not too far from a bus stop but it is also quite out of the way. That was a huge plus for my husband and I as we wanted to have a more personal, intimate experience instead of something geared towards tourists. I’m finding it difficult to find anything we did not like about the property. Everyone and the experience was amazing.

The beds were uncomfortable, but they were as described and we learned we don't like the floor mattresses.

The staff, cleanliness, warm hospitality, food, and amazing Onsen!

  • Engine customer Apr 2026

The onsen is amazing—50 minutes of relaxation that’s really worth it. We were given yukatas and other onsen accessories to borrow. Personally, we slept great on the futon. It all seemed a bit hard at first, but maybe also thanks to the onsen, we slept like babies. Breakfast was scheduled for 7:30 a.m.—probably because the restaurant is very small, so guests have to be divided into groups. Unfortunately, we overslept and were five minutes late, and the manager was already waiting impatiently outside our room; she didn’t seem too happy about our delay. ? The breakfast, however, was excellent—plentiful and varied—and a lady took care of us the whole time, explaining what was on our plates and refilling our milk, tea, and coffee. A truly wonderful experience and a chance to relax.

Onsen Top Notch Dinner very traditional Relaxed Location

  • Engine customer Apr 2026

Private onsen for couple, so compatible with tattoos. Ryokan dinner with attentive staff. Diverse breakfast as well. Efficient timing but did not feel rushed. Amazing Hakoneyama sake. Traditional rooms, very nice aesthetic.

The food was amazing, the onsen was really relaxing as well. The room was traditional Japanese style room and pretty comfortable although the separate bathroom was chilly. It’s not the hotels fault, there is a lovely preserve right next to it, but directly next door was just a construction site. Other than that it was a very peaceful and relaxing stay.

The onsen was amazing, and the staff were so friendly and welcoming. The location made it easy to get around Hakone by one of the numerous bus lines. Breakfast was a full course with an attendant going over everything with you. There are numerous restaurants nearby that offer a variety of food at reasonable rates.

It was a traditional Ryokan with delicous Kaiseki Dinner and breakfast. It is also possible to ask for a vegan Version in advanced. The onsen is Perfect for relaxing and can be booked for an hour per day (The Ryokan has two onsens you can book so it is easy to get your prefered time). Stuff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are very traditi Bathroom is tiny but okay. You have to keep in mind, that you sleep on a thin mattress on the tatami floor.

Very clean with thoughtful touches like cookies provided in the room. Dinner and breakfast are included and were really amazing. Very friendly and helpful staff. The bathing area is private. A little out of the way, needed to take a bus for about 50 mins from Odawara station. But, have to share riding the bus inhaling is part of the experience!

Traditional ryokan feel, great food, relaxing onsen, attentive staff. The futons were very thin and pillows were hard.

Excellent Japanese experience in an old traditional ryokan, with private onsen option hours, nice experience Japanese dinner. Staff were very helpful with us. Recommended 100% Overall, we had a great stay and nothing really bothered us. The only small issue was that the hotel was a bit far away, which made planning a little harder. We also booked our Shinkansen too early and ended up missing the traditional ryokan breakfast, which we were really excited about.

The staff was absolutely amazing in every step of the way. Because of the snow we weren't able to take the bus to return to Hakone Yumoto but the staff took care of us (while waiting for the snow to stop falling by bringing us tea, sweets) and even took us by car to the station. Every staff was very welcoming, polite and went out of their way to make us confortable. The onsen The breakfast and dinner

The breakfast and dinner were awesome as well as the private onsen. Rooms were nice, staff was friendly and helpful. Overall really great stay and very well run/put together. The only two things to comment on were that the shower head I room 105 needs to be replaced, it was spraying all over the place. The other comment was about the dinner, there was some staff that didn’t explain what the dishes were, I think because they were busy. The breakfast was better and the person serving the food was more experienced and helped more.

    Hospitality, dinner, value

  • Engine customer Jan 2026

The food was really elaborate and delicious (although dinner and breakfast were really similar, so looking back, I think I would have been fine with just 2 meals there instead of 4), especially as they were extremely expensive. I really appreciated that they were able to accommodate our vegetarian/pescatarian dietary needs, though there was some confusion in communication prior to our stay. The Onsen was clean and nice - you could book for a private visit once a day. The rooms were cute and very traditional, and the highlight was the table with a heated foot area. The location was convenient for getting around Hakone and the staff were very kind. It was fun to get to wear the yukatas and slippers. The beds were extremely thin and uncomfortable (I'm talking truly 2 inches). We had stayed at another tatami-mat style hotel and they had a floor mattress to go underneath the rolled mattress, and I think this place would really benefit from that as an option for those used to having a little more cushion. Given this, we didn't sleep super well. The view was also a bit of a bummer as it looked out onto a construction site next door. The bathroom was also extremely small. It was a nice stay, but just didn't quite meet expectations for the hefty nightly pricetag (which was separate from the Onsen and meals and doubled the final cost of our stay to $350 per night for 2 people).

It was an authentic place, which made for a wonderful experience. The room was simple, clean, and provided a very comfortable sleep on the tatami mats. It was a cold night, and personally, I don't like AC heat because it dries out the air—and I didn't have a humidifier—but everything else was perfect. The dinner was delicious, and the private onsen was fantastic. It was a cold night, but I personally dislike heated air from an AC as it tends to be very drying, especially since I didn't have a humidifier.
