Flexibility of management

The accommodation was about a 7 min walk from the main bus terminal, which made it easy to get around. The heating worked well (good for us during snow season) and the onsen was nice after a day of snowboarding. We didn't realise that the 'shared bathroom' was a public onsen, and there were no private shower options. You also had to check-in by the hotel across the road, which I don't remember being mentioned. The listing says '24-hour front desk', which isn't really the case - no one mans the front desk, but there is a telephone that I think goes up to the other hotel reception. The wifi was pretty spotty. These things are all fine if you know what you're signing up for, but I don't believe the listing is accurate.

i liked the location to the hakuba happo bus terminal, the onsen, room for snow gear. the room was comfortable enough too especially when the room is just a place for the night. we ended up staying in one of the rooms without an ensuite (which was fine) but it was located in an annexure. unfortunately staying at the annexure, it is harder to get service ie the towels, robes that were self service (located in a common area for you to take) were not topped up as often compared to staying in the main building.

Staff were very friendly and super helpful. Location was perfect for the slopes! Shared toilets were kept clean. Didn’t realise that the only bathroom was a shared onsen. The beds were not that comfortable. Mould throughout the roof of the laundry.

Has everything you need, with the authentic Japanese experience. Loved the onsen and facilities. It’s a bit cold to walk down to onsen (in the underpass) but there parking and everything you can possibly need. The room were ryokan style There is a main reception (where hotel Ougiya) and older Ougiya Ryokan section where the restaurant is. We stayed in Ougiya ryokan section where the smell of onion and food (we were just above the restaurant) was quite overwhelming if you’re not feeling like food. Otherwise the smell of the restaurant is very inviting/delicious. The laundry facilities were cool, though sometimes didn’t wash that that well (needed coins, we ended up buying our own laundry pods from supermarket) as well as drying of a load required at least two rounds. It’s also a designated Rhythm ski/snowboard gear rental pick up hotel, so after registering for pick up (via gear QR code) it's easy not having to drop gear off after your stay. The cleaning was on request, which was resourceful and great.

Nice location - the place is close to the Hakuba Bus Terminal which has lots of shuttles going to and from the mountains for skiing. Restaurant at the annex serves up really nice wagyu beef bowls for a good price. Some of the taps didn’t work in the bathroom area. At times, the toilets wouldn’t flush. If you are entering via the annex, you won’t find reception there which is a little confusing.

Great location! Very clean and pleasant atmosphere. Such nice staff and they gave us snow boots to use during our stay. Yummy breakfast and just a joy to stay here

Large room and good access to a bus station. Close to a ski rental shop and good collaboration including ski pick up return service on the hotel. Bad manner people were drinking beer in a bath. Suggest to show manner guidance plate for foreign tourists.

This hotel is a delightful gem, showcasing the rich culture of Japan in Hakuba. We highly recommend it! The onsen is absolutely incredible, especially after a day of skiing. Please note that it is a public bath and shower, so if you prefer privacy, you may want to book the private onsen for $3000 an hour. The atmosphere is very relaxing, and the owner is attentive and helpful. The entire place is impeccably clean. Its location is fantastic, conveniently situated between bus stops and Happo One. The beds are traditional Japanese-style, placed on the ground, and additional futons can be provided if needed. I appreciate the authenticity of this Japanese style. I hope they never westernize this. If you choose to stay here, please respect Japanese culture and consider supporting local rentals, restaurants, and shops. The area surrounding has been gentrified and westernized through the past years.

Traditional Japanese accommodation. Warm and relaxed. Superb Onsen I needed access to a kettle and had to borrow one from another guest.
