Restaurant & Hotel Traumerei

The hotel restaurant Traumerei is located in Hakuba, a mountain town. The location in May was just perfect, away from the hustle of larger cities, peaceful, and beautiful in springtime. The hotel is spacious and comfortable, and the staff was very attentive and helpful. We enjoyed breakfast under the trees, fine cuisine, and the hotel onsen! A big thank you to everyone at Traumerei, especially Yumiko, what made our stay so pleasant! Everything was wonderful.

Nice location and private onsen was great. Room was clean. The food was incredibly bad and overpriced. The foie gras with mashed potatoes had no sauce at all, making it a very poor combination. The bread was completely cold. The selection of alcohol was very limited — for example, they only offered Jack Daniel’s for whiskey and didn’t even have sake. The full and half glasses of wine looked almost identical, yet one cost half the price. The meat dishes, such as beef and lobster, were just okay, but everything came with a very high price tag.

We absolutely loved our stay here! The staff was lovely and attentive, the rooms were beautiful and comfortable, and the services such as breakfast in the room and the onsen were excellent! Dinner in the restaurant was worth every penny, truly it was so delicious. We would 100% recommend this accommodation!

We had a lovely stay at Traumerei, beautifully nestled in the heart of Hakuba. The magical snowy surroundings created a truly memorable experience. We especially enjoyed the daily French breakfasts and the relaxing onsen which were perfect after a day in the snow. The availability of laundry facilities and the attentive, helpful service made our stay very comfortable. Overall, everything met our expectations, and we would highly recommend Traumerei to anyone visiting Hakuba The wifi could have been stronger

The service from the staff is exceptional. They don’t speak fluent English but they will do everything they can to accommodate you. I can see snowfields from my room, making breakfast extra special with a relaxing view. They have drying room for skis that are accessible from the side of the hotel. The cherry on top was access to onsen - the best way to relax after a long day of skiing. There are shuttle busses that will take you directly to Iwatake, Happo, and Hakuba47/Goryu as well. The bed can be softer but I slept through the night just fine during my stays!

Unforgettable Stay in Hakuba! From the moment we arrived, the service was absolutely fantastic. Every staff member went above and beyond to ensure our stay was seamless and enjoyable. The daily morning breakfasts delivered to our room were truly a treat—delicious, beautifully presented, and the perfect way to start each day before heading out to explore Hakuba. Without a doubt, this is the best spot to stay in Hakuba. The room was fantastic. I stay at about 20 hotels every year around the world and this is the first hotel I’ve stopped to write a review since the service was so fantastic. We stayed here for 4 days skiing around the local area. I would 100% recommend this place to family and friends! Everything really was great.

Ski resorts shuttle bus stop is right outside the hotel. It is a beautiful classic building with nice surroundings but it is a very old property. Carpet is faded and only provides one small flat feather pillow. Breakfast is expensive ¥2,000 with croissants ? milk, and coffee served in the room. Private Onsen at basement is creepy.

It may have a old cottage rustic charm but it gave very bad vibes once the night set. The room was eerie and I didn’t feel safe. I constantly felt like somebody/something was watching us and couldn’t sleep the whole night. After one night we had no choice but to check out. The whole place seemed to be run solely by one woman because that’s all we saw. When I tried explaining to this lady, in whatever japanese I could muster, what we went through, it was impossible to do so. All she did was smile in a non-apologetic way and kept saying “yes yes yes” in Japanese. We were simply too spooked out to stay longer or to negotiate. At the end of the day, we just had to leave even without any assurance for a refund. We effectively paid 4 nights stay even though we only stayed for a night. It almost seems like the proprietors are using the usual Japanese politeness charm to take advantage of guests in such circumstances and to get gain an unfair enrichment. 4 nights room prices on a peak season for offering just 1 night’s stay. We tried getting booking.com to help us contact the hotel to try to negotiate but the platform was useless. All it was simply tell us that they MESSAGED the hotel and got no reply. Not even a call was placed. That’s of no help. But even if message is a usual feasible way, I’m not surprised that the hotel didn’t respond. We tried texting on several occasions after check in but they never responded. I’m really not sure if the hotel is manned by humans or something else. Anybody with a heart would have sought to listen to our woes and tried to resolve our issue. Not this hotel, not booking.com - you paid and we say no refunds then too bad. We don’t care if you had safety concerns or if you are guests, you are just money making suckers to us. See comment. It was cold and creepy. Clearly run by unfeeling animals.
