Nice place, was pretty quiet contrary to other reviews in my opinion, the biggest noise was from the snorers and not from the street or clubs. Spacious common area with benches, tables and a pool table. There was a self service fridge with drinks and you could pay with card which was nice. The terrace was also nice. The beds didn't have curtains and had to make my own makeshift ones from bed sheets, t-shirts etc. to have some privacy. Not the property's fault in any way but there were a lot of snorers and I kinda hated my life during the stay because I could barely sleep..

As a solo female traveler, I was not happy with the entrance to the property. It’s passcode-protected but still feels shady at night.

It was a super good experience. I booked in a shared room for 4 people and I felt very comfortable, safe and with privac

Good access to public transit with a bus stop nearby, location was great with a nice neighborhood, bed was comfortable enough, the price and value was good This isn't the hostel's fault, but another man in my dorm took my bed and sheets and refused to move when I arrived at 11:30 at night. Because the front desk had inconvenient hours, I had no one to reach out to in order to fix this issue which was a bit stressful. It's also very noisy in the dorm throughout the night.

When you are with SMOUT not SMOUTH CRIMINAL ? you are in good hands, he is there to make sure everything goes well, a very good Man with a great welcome. Victoria, the amazing girl at the reception, well-educated, professional at work, helpful in making guests very comfortable, without forgetting the German lady I met the first time, she was very friendly and very quick to do check-in without complications. I really liked this place because you feel at home, and everyone is friendly and that’s the goal of the best hostels. Of course the Irish people ( from the most amazing supporters in the world ) very gentle and very friendly, the Buddhist man very kind, the woodworker very good man … all these people are just amazing. Thank you guys for making my stays so special. Everything was nice, need only some small stuffs, like the light of the Bed, and pillows , but these are just small things ?

Needs more toilets, The Ukrainian receptionist has no idea how to work in a hostel and is not the friendliest.
-
The young white female staff with the mean approach but that's by the way, it was a good place
-
Nice location, helpful staff, clear information providing during check-in, friendly atmosphere, clean beds and bedsheets/blankets.

Pretty much everything for a backpacker. None

It's very good when you need to stay for one night in Hamburg, good price for value and also includes towels (which they sometimes charge you for in other hostels), the location is ok, not so close to the city center, and the place is nice, you even have a kitchen to cook and a terrace if you want to smoke or have some fresh air in the morning, there's even a meditation room which is a nice plus. I got into a room with 12 beds, which is kinda what you expect when staying in a hostel but in the middle of the night someone knocked and then started asking something very loud, which was really annoying, I didn't really rest that much also because of some other noises, so bring your earplugs if you want to sleep a bit better. The beds could get some change too, not very comfortable, and you need to bring your own padlock or buy one from the reception

Got a room with only 6 beds which was nice, the hostel is close to the university and there's an S-bahn Station just around 10 minutes walking distance, there's a kitchen if you want to cook and you can also get beers, tee or coffee from the communal pool, there's a terrace for getting fresh air in the morning and a meditation room which is a nice plus. Shared bathrooms and showers but were clean, you need to bring your own padlock and the beds could get some change, they are not the most comfortable.

I was here in July 2024, I am a lifetime member of IYH but none in Hamburg, which is different of course, I like making my own breakfast though, at IYH Buffet breakfast with your room etc. I always stay at Backpackers Hostels, keeps me young! Always snoring, have earphones blocks it out but thats hostels for ya!

I loved the friendly vibes, it was clean and the facilities were good. I really appreciated the free tea, coffee machine and milk. The common area was comfortable and welcoming. The toilets and bathroom area were clean, and well maintained with plenty of facilities. Great environmentally friendly hand towels too. The area was good, plenty of restaurants and bars local, as well as a Lidl and good public transport links. The area also felt really safe (as a group of 4 girls). The hostel also felt safe. The guests were friendly, as it's a small hostel it has a real community feel. The outdoor balcony was lovely, had good seating and a relaxing ambience. The room could have been ventilated better, it got quite stuffy and warm. Our room didn't have ladders to get to the top bunk or barriers, you did have to scramble up and down. This wasn't the case in all rooms though. The showers had frosted glass between them, so you could see silhouettes of others, it really wasn't that bad, just a little different to previous experiences. Storage space was limited in the room.

Everything was wonderful Clean All the necessary accommodations Free water, tea, coffee

The ambiance was good and staff very kind. Basic kitchen utensils available and I loved the generous space made available for food to give away for when people couldn't finish it Not everything was very clean. The water in the shower did not drain very good and some sinks needed to be unplugged as well. Also the bunk bed I stayed in made noises if one of us would move Besides that, it was all pretty good actually

There was a DJ event which was very cool. Beer is cheap and everyone is friendly
