Chalcedony Grand Hotel

The rooms aren't particularly large, but they are thoughtfully designed, clean, and very comfortable. Since we spent most of our time exploring the city, the room had everything we needed for a good night's sleep. Even though the hotel is close to the city center, outside noise was never an issue. It struck a great balance between convenience and comfort.

We spent most of our days walking around the Old Quarter, trying local street food, visiting cafés, and exploring nearby attractions. Being able to return to the hotel within minutes whenever we needed a break was incredibly convenient. The location truly helped us enjoy the city at our own pace.

As tourists visiting Hanoi for the first time, we found this hotel perfectly located. We could easily walk to many famous places, restaurants, cafés, and local markets without needing transportation most of the time. It allowed us to experience the energy of the city while still having a quiet and comfortable place to return to at night. The soundproof windows were surprisingly effective, which made sleeping very peaceful despite being in a busy area.

We stayed here for a few days while exploring Hanoi, and honestly, the location could not have been better. Most of the main attractions were within walking distance, which made everything so convenient. The hotel had a cozy and welcoming atmosphere, and the staff were incredibly friendly from the moment we checked in. After long days walking through the busy streets of Hanoi, it was always nice to come back to a calm and comfortable place to rest.

The location was excellent, the food was delicious, and the staff were exceptional. Although the rooms feel a little dated, likely due to the hotel's long history, they were clean, comfortable, and well cared for. A special thank you to Chi and Tan, who made us feel genuinely welcomed throughout our stay. Their hospitality was outstanding and truly made a difference. We would gladly stay here again on our next visit to Vietnam.

Of course, the hotel itself is beautiful — modern rooms, comfortable facilities, excellent food, and a fantastic location — but what truly made this stay unforgettable was the emotional connection we felt during our time there. Traveling can sometimes feel exhausting, especially in a new country, but the kindness and hospitality we experienced here made everything easier and more enjoyable

This hotel left a very positive impression on us mainly because of the staff. Their kindness and attention to detail made the experience feel authentic rather than just professional. Simple gestures, like remembering our breakfast preferences or asking about our plans for the day, made a big difference. Tan was outstanding throughout breakfast service — friendly, attentive, and consistently professional. The rooms are a little old-fashioned, but they were still clean and functional. For us, that was a very small issue compared to the level of care and hospitality we received during our stay. The overall experience was still excellent.

I honestly didn’t expect breakfast to become one of the highlights of our trip, but it absolutely did. Every morning there was a wide variety of fresh food, from local Vietnamese dishes to international options. Everything tasted fresh and carefully prepared. What stood out the most, though, was the incredible hospitality from Chi and Tan. They were always attentive without being intrusive, and they made every guest feel important. Their positive energy in the morning genuinely started our day in the best possible way.

The room was cramped and had an unpleasant odor. The hotel did not provide basic toiletries, and when I requested them, they informed me that it was a rule of the tourism ministry that they were not permitted to provide them. However, I received toiletries in all other hotel stays during my trip to Vietnam. They charge exorbitant fees for late checkouts, whereas almost every other hotel offers free late checkouts.

Comfortable hotel It would have been great to have some sort of pool/outside bar terrace, which would have instantly elevated the property 100%
