Meritel punches well above its weight and was one of the most pleasant surprises of my time in Hanoi. Perfectly located in the heart of the Old Quarter, it made exploring the city effortless, with countless attractions, restaurants, and cafés just a short walk away. One of the standout touches was being assigned a dedicated concierge upon arrival. William was exceptional—attentive, professional, and always available to assist throughout my stay. It’s a level of personalized service you don’t often find, especially at this price point. From the beautiful interior design and thoughtful welcome gifts to the outstanding breakfast each morning, every detail felt carefully considered. The combination of comfort, hospitality, and value made for a truly memorable stay. I would happily recommend Meritel to anyone visiting Hanoi and sincerely hope to return someday myself.

The property was beautiful! We really enjoyed it - I explain lower score in next part. We liked in general a lot of things about this property. It was a bit expensive for value was our only complaint. This was the main problem though, the staff asked us the same questions Booking.com asks at check out of the stay. When I didn’t give them an absolutely perfect score. I literally only marked very minimal things and was overall happy. Their emotions changed and were very unhappy. We left and then the man chased us outside, bringing a gift and then asking us not to write them on Booking.com because it wasn’t perfect. This felt like bribery and bothered us.

I think, the location was the best aspect of the hotel. The most of the attractions in Hanoi were in walking distance, almost right after you stepped out from the hotel. People usually find the check-in process too long and exhausting in Vietnam, but I actually appreciated that they take the time and spend with you while walking you through all the details. It is also important for you to be informed before you sign anything and start your stay at the hotel. There is a complex credit card issue (please see the negative feedback below). The room I stayed in came with a promotion from booking.com (almost 1/3 of the real price). It was spacious enough and on the top floor, and had a giant terrace with city view. Not for me but for someone else the down side might be the noıse coming from the bar just above the room. But for me, the terrace was like a private area with music and the voice of happy people. It felt cozy :) The hotel is also very safe and comfortable for female solo traveller. The room can be locked and the terrace was not accessible from another room. The staff was also attentive. They recommended for place to eat, exchange money and arranged a day-trip to Ninh Binh for me. Overall, it was a comfy and safe place for me. I couldn't find the time to use the hotel facilities like spa and pool, and my stay didn't include the breakfast - so, I can't make comments about them. But the roof bar is great :) drinks and snacks are topnotch!! Like in most of the hotels in Vietnam, yes, payment is super annoying. But I think this is something they should also figure out with booking.com Paying credit card adds 5% on the price (which I didn't mind) and if you pay cash, yes you pay less. But, I still don't feel comfortable with the way they handle this situation. Again, this is not something peculiar to Meritel only. I provided one feedback for improvement to the hotel directly (no need to repeat it over here), and they took it very seriously already.

Great location. Door staff and reception staff so nice. Breakfast good (ran out of bacon but we did go late on). Room immaculate- we stayed in the Meritel Suite which has a balcony overlooking street below.

Everything! The hotel was outstanding, the staff, the food and the cleanliness were amazing. Judi and Mike were especially so helpful and friendly. Perfect position to explore Hanoi and to be right in the centre of the old quarter. Our room was so quiet considering it's in a very busy street. I would recommend to stay here. Nothing

Clean, attentive staff, quality room and excellent breakfast

Breakfast was good, location was great and staff was very helpful Lobby could have been cleaner, lay out of the bathroom was awkward, you could not open the door all the way to stand in front of the sink

Amazing hotel. The staff greet you with a smile from beginning to end. We thoroughly enjoyed every moment of our stay at the Meritel. It is conveniently located, comfortable, and clean. Would recommend to anyone!

The friendly staff- Mike made himself available to answer any questions we had and was very kind and hospitable to us the whole stay. Rooms were clean and the AC worked well which is very important in 90F and higher weather. The bar had good drinks as well. The room was a good size. We chose the room without a window and I was a little worried about it but i barely even noticed it. N/A

Wonderful location, beautiful hotel and excellent staff. Especially PAnh Hoang who was super helpful. We would definitely stay here again. The rooftop bar was really nice. We have no complaints.

Service was outstanding. Restaurant food was very good. Room was very nice and clean. Only disappointment was with the pool which was small/crowded, and appeared more run down than the photo that is posted on booking.com.

Beds were a little hard and room acoustics were poor. Could hear others coming in and out of their rooms and also could hear people talking. Thin walls.
