Shell Motel

I have mixed feelings about my stay at this property. It is clean and well maintained and the proprietor was very nice and helpful. Unfortunately, this is one of the most inconvenient places of lodging at which I have ever stayed. Their property shows that they have rooms with full size refrigerators and couches. After a long day of travel, when he opened the door to let me in I was shocked to find what could best be described as a cloistered cell. There was no full size refrigerator, no couch, just a bed, bureau, a small dining table with 3 chairs available. The room is set up like an efficiency, and while there was a two burner stove top, kitchen sink, and small refrigerator, there was no cutlery, no pots and pans, no glasses, etc. I had to purchase a small bowl so I could eat cold cereal for breakfast. And because there is no ice machine, I constantly had to buy bags of ice just to have a post-beach Dr. Pepper or cocktail or two before turning in for the night. I wouldn't have minded a lack of an ice machine if I could walk to a small store to purchase some, but there was no place withing walking distance. I calculated it cost me probably an extra $80 during my 7 day stay just for ice and another $50 for items I needed to purchase for my stay (cups, bowls, dish detergent, etc.). Also, although their ad on Hotels.com shows that they have laundry facilities, there were none that I saw. In all, it's a nice place to stay, but only for a night, not for a week.

Shell Motel has a 70s vibe. They even use physical keys (not key cards). The metal key on a hotel key chain is a nice change of pace. The hotel is kept immaculately clean and it's well maintained. It is not modern, by any means, but that is what gives it that down home old Florida country charm. The old bathroom tiles (pink and black ceramic) reminds me of my grandparents homed. The heated pool area is lovely. I was pleasantly surprised at the excellent room service. The rooms are cleaned daily (this is a rare find for motels). It's affordablly priced and convenient to a lot of nice restaurants and coffee shops. It's about two miles from Hollywood beach. There are some nice places nearby: Pink Cafe (Coffee and donuts) Bayla Chillilimon Fusion Taco Beach Shack I recommend it with confidence and am planning to come back.

Our only issues - shower water was cold.

It was well kept, clean, organized. The manager was very friendly, and helpful. No coffee maker.

the room was nice, a bit small but ok. the pool was great, and parking good. so, was the accessablity. what i got wasn't what was advertise. the location wasn't close to any gas station with in walking distance. lastly, the wifi was available but very slow it was barley useable.

Upon check-in, Guy told me about transportation, shopping, and food nearby as well as entertainment options happening during my stay. The pool is lovely and I often had it to myself. Grab yourself some drinks and snacks as there is a fridge and microwave in the room but also lots of food choices in the area. If there had been an ice machine and strong water pressure in the shower, I might never have left. (I don’t know if the weak water pressure was the case on the whole property or just my room.) I absolutely would (will?) return! The brothers clearly enjoy what they do. Thank you Guy & Pierre!

For the price, you can’t beat this place. Clean room and friendly staff and just a short drive to the beach.

Loved the owners ! So kind the pool was warm and the location was spot on. We will stay here every time we come thru from now on. Guy and his brother are amazing people. Love love love Nothing. It’s all great

The guys at the front desk are awesome. You won’t even get that level of service at Rotz Carlton, never mind a motel. They welcome you with a big greeting, offer water, tips on places to visit in the area - even ask about why your here and show genuine enthusiasm about your visit. You really can’t beat it. Not their fault, I’m a tall guy so I need bigger toilets haha. Again, not their fault.
