The lady at the reception who welcomed us was super nice and helpful. The location is really good. Away from the hustle and bustle, but close to the city center There were two things that made me not rate the place as excellent. 1. There was a party on Saturday in the hotel bar, which closed around 10, I think. However, a group stayed until well after midnight and were very loud, which made it impossible to rest. The staff didn't say anything to them until I went down to the reception. 2. The waiters in the bar were terribly annoying. I paid for 1 hour of billiards, but during that time they wanted to move us to another table 3 times, saying that another group needed tables next to each other. Because of this, we finished the game, but they told us to stay. Because of this, we didn't go to the bar anymore, but went downtown to drink.

Our stay at the Chieftain Hotel was so nice. It started as soon as we arrived. Shibon was so pleasant and was genuinely interested in us and our travel plans. She helped us decide to stay on Orkney (the next stop on our journey) instead of trying to take the ferry back and forth. Her suggestions for what to do in Inverness were spot on. The hotel also has a popular bar that locals seem to like. I was afraid it might be noisy in the room, but we didn't hear one sound from the bar. The restaurant was very good, too. Julie is an amazing chef. I had one of her omelets for breakfast, and it was the best omelet I have ever eaten. The other members of the staff were very nice and considerate. If I ever return to Inverness, I will definitely be staying at the Chieftain Hotel. (The only thing you need to know is that it is not a 5 minute walk from the train station. It is more like a 20 minute walk.)

We checked in on 14 August after a long days drive. We sat down to eat at their restaurant and we were hungry. After I informed the server that I have a peanut and tree nut allergy, she returned and said the chef will not be serving us any food from their kitchen, including breakfast. Basically, we were barred from eating at their establishment. I advised we could not stay there and they agreed to a refund. But they didn't help us find another place to stay and we had to get help from another patron who is a native of the city and helped us find somewhere else to stay, even though most hotels were fully booked. They refunded us for our entire 5 day stay. Be warned - if you have any food allergies or specific requirements regarding food prep, they will not only not accomodate you, they may just throw you out of ther eating establishment altogether like that did to us. They are intolerant and rigid. So don't go if you have any disabilities or special needs. See above

The staff was AMAZING!! Nick and Shioban were absolutely delightful. It was a very cozy Bed and Breakfast vibe. The room was huge for three adults. And the food was the best we had in any hotel for the 12 days we traveled in Scotland. They were having hot water issues that we were told about, it just got a wee bit frustrating as the shower didn’t get as hot as we like.

The location of the hotel was perfect for walking into town. The hotel was cosy, although could maybe do with a bit of modernisation.
