The BREAKFAST HOTEL PORTO Ishigakijima

We stayed at the first floor (same level as the receptionist) the soundproof of the door was pretty bad you can hear people walking

The breakfast was great. The staff were very helpful. Maybe the best hotel I have ever stayed at for the price. Location was close to restaurants and shopping area. Can’t think of anything.

Parking is sparse, have to pay for parking.

Bad matresses and cramped room. Elevators are slow in the mornings so plan on using stairs.

Breakfast was incredible. Room had a balcony. Everything was great. Wish the free smoothie was available later during the day, not just in the morning, but no big deal.

The room would get hot and humid quickly if the aircon was not on, but that probably can’t be helped on a tropical island :)

This hotel really is true to its name: breakfast had lots of options, from sushi to icecream and everything in between. We really enjoyed it. In the condominium they would serve all kinds of free drinks for happy hour, which was really unexpected. The rooms were quite spacious and we appreciated the mosquito nets. I don't know if it was intentional, but that industrial design gave off a bit of a prison vibe. We stayed in the condominium, don't know about the hotel. I didn't understand the smoothie thing, If you didn't pay for breakfast, you would get one free, but if you did get breakfast you have to pay for the smoothie. I felt a bit discriminated against, especially since some days when we were in a rush, I would have preferred to grab a quick smoothie instead of breakfast.

Happy hour at the apartment hotel building is fun. You get to try an assortment of awamori and there is beer and whisky chu-hai. We chatted with other divers and travelers. Quite fun! Our room has an in-unit laundry machine (with detergent!) and kitchenette with microwave. It was great to be able to cook and heat up food in the late afternoon. The room was clean and the A/C had sufficient power. The staff were super friendly and we received fresh towels daily. We only tried the breakfast 1 day. It is as good as the hype - from local sashimi to A5 beef to fresh fruit and assorted desserts - bring an empty stomach! You will be so full even if you only tried 1 bite of each thing they have! If you do not book the room with breakfast, they offer a smoothie each day, which was also super delicious! The door between the kitchenette and room had a bit of difficulty getting past the refrigerator. We had to keep the latch retracted (aka keep door knob turned) to not be trapped. It seems like a fire hazard, but once you understand this, it was not a challenge.

Parking

kitchen is very small and essentially in the corridor but this is a Japanese style maybe the room is a bit too small but this is Japanese style

The room is spacious for a Japanese hotel. It was easy to move around, and it was a huge perk to have a kitchenette with a sink and hot plate in the room. The laundry machine was also nice, although we did not use it. The complimentary awamori in the lobby was a nice touch. There were a number of misunderstandings due to how crowded the front desk is all the time. The hotel is very very busy with only one elevator bank per building, so going up and down can take ten minutes. We were handed our room key without being told our room was in a different building, leading to a lot of confusion. At no point during our stay did anyone come in and clean the room or change the sheets. I'm sure we could have requested it but it was odd. The door lock plate was also broken.

It was fabulous! Near the bus and ferry terminals, as well as a small “shopping mall”. Very international clientele using the hotel. I didn’t want any breakfast but they give you a free fresh fruit smoothie every morning. Not only that, the drink bar with coffee tea water etc is open from 6:30 am to 11pm. Again, free! Who does that? The hotel had excellent WiFi and the cafeteria remained open for people to use as a meeting place or work space. The laundry room was well kept. The name! I said Porto and nobody knows the name. You have to say bu-rake-fest hotel. I didn’t understand this fact until almost the last day!

the breakfast was amazing, superb really. room fridge not functioning very well, did not get cold.

Parking space a bit small

Central and 5-10 minute walk to the restaurants and shop street. Tours know the hotel and can offer pickup. Also the airport bus #2-3&6 run in front of the hotel. About a 800yen ride to ANA intercontinental hotel and the beach as well as Donki store. Walking distyto bus and ferry terminal or other boat tours. Excellent breakfast for a 2 day stay but a bit redundant if staying longer. No pool or spa but balcony to dry stuff up and coin laundry on the 1st floor- convenient Breakfast choice -same food every day

Breakfast! Absolutely amazing. But to not only focus on that: staff was incredibly nice and welcoming. The room was spacious enough - even more generous than you may expect in Japan. If I'll be back in Ishigaki (and I'll) I'll stay there again! All was superb!

The location is away from the main area, but close enough you can walk there in 5-10 minutes. The room was nice and big. My room had a kitchen and washing machine - more than what I was expecting, however the price reflects these bonuses. The parking was expensive - the most expensive I had to pay throughout the whole trip, and I stayed in cities much bigger than Ishikigaki during the trip. Very expensive considering. Also, the staff were a bit short with me a number of times - whilst I speak Japanese it is not perfect and sometimes I can get tongue-tied trying to explain the situation. Ishigaki is a very touristy area and the staff showed signs of being sick of dealing with people, which I understand but that's not my problem, and more than once I got a hint of attitude that I did not appreciate.
