Mayan Monkey Isla Mujeres | Social Hotel

The property has a very jungle-style vibe which is super cute! I like that it has double shower and separate bathroom which make it easier for shared bedrooms. Also check-out at 12pm makes it super comfort. Super clean facilities and great music around! It’s a bit distant from the main nightlife and center of the island, you have to take a taxi. There aren’t that much options for eating around, so prices at the inside restaurant could be high. There’s no coworking zone, so for digital nomads is no good, cause working from the bedroom is not worth it cause also the WiFi in the restaurant doesn’t reach that good. The staff could also be a bit more welcoming, specially at the bar, there wasn’t any interest in having you attended.

If you’re booking Jungle rooms, know that there’s a restaurant right next to them (not part of the hotel) that plays loud music until around midnight so not ideal for a relaxing stay.

The bed was extremely comfortable.

Decoration is good The kitchen is pretty small and the fridge was super dirty.. The staff at the front desk and beach club is awful! At the bar we had to pay way more for our drinks in the menu was a different price, but they add in purpose sodas which they drink in the end! I felt robbed! Also the breakfast is pricy for what you got!! And isnt tasty!! Europe is way cheaper than this!! Been there when was NOMADS and the experience was amazing but know as Mayan monkey is not great.. my only night there was very dissatisfied, disappointed.

My son loved it! Staff was very friendly and helpful, specially Vanesa! Is more like for young people, very rustic and too many stairs for me!

The best place I have ever stayed at. Came for 1 day, stayed for 6. Perfect beach, quiet, they let you sit at the tables (which I loved for work with my feet in the sand) and use the recliners and all else. It may be little weird with random people coming with the boats/jetski. Otherwise its pretty private

I honestly am very upset! I contact the property ahead of time to schedule transfer/transportation to the hostel. They suggestion a company that I booked and then eventually didn’t use because of miss communication on their end. The lady at the front desk stated I would be getting a refund and even ask for my banking information. 4 weeks later no refund and no response to my countless emails! They scammed me out of hundreds of dollars. I’m pissed and will never stay with them again. I also will tell everyone I know.

Love the beachfront! Yoga classes in the morning, very friendly staff, and comfortable rooms.

The hotel is beautiful, it has so much potential and the beach is amazing. It's a shame to give it such a rating. Wifi didn't work in the room. They didn't clean the room (sand was piling). Our room keys stoped working once a day. We came to the reception with those problems and they ignored and gaslighted us ("You probably put the keys next your phone", "The cleaning lady did come", "There isn't any other Wifi network"). I hope they improve, because the place is beautiful, just doesn't worth the problems.

Lots of staff socializing with each other. Too bad they didn't know how to help the clients.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this was one of the most frightening experiences I have had while traveling. First, the dorm room did not match the photos. The bed only had a loose sheet with no mattress protector, and I woke up with multiple bites on my body after sleeping there. I cannot confirm the cause, but it raised concerns about possible bugs in the bedding. The dorm room door also did not properly close. I had to repeatedly wake up during the night to shut it, which is concerning in a shared dorm setting. When it did close, it had to be slammed loudly, waking anyone sleeping near the door. The shower water also never got fully hot and stayed lukewarm. However, the most serious issue happened at the restaurant. The dorm price is inexpensive, but the restaurant food and drinks are very expensive. During happy hour I ordered two margaritas. They arrived tasting like simple syrup water with almost no alcohol. After only a few sips I felt sick from how sugary they were. When I asked the staff to remake them, they simply poured tequila on top of the same drinks, which made them taste even worse. When I politely asked if the drinks could be removed from the bill since they were undrinkable, the staff refused and insisted that I had to order two more drinks. I became overwhelmed and got up to walk to the front desk to speak to management about paying for my dinner and resolving the issue. Instead, three male employees chased me down the dark beach and surrounded me while aggressively demanding payment. As a woman traveling alone, this was extremely frightening. I explained that I intended to speak to the front desk about the bill, but the situation became very confrontational. Eventually they allowed me to pay for just my dinner, but the situation left me shaken.

Restourant staff was very slow

Loved the property. Good breakfast. They helped me with my luggage. Nice beach and pool. Loved all the outside beds and chairs to relax on. Good kitchen area and free water. Plenty of air conditioning in the dorm. The pool was nice and big, but no steps to step down into the pool. I could physically not get out without asking a strange man to help me. The outside bedding and lounge chair cushions need cleaned or updated. I paid more for my room to include breakfast each day. It was sufficient but we received mini coffee cups with no refill. You could at least give us regular-sized coffee cups!

The property is absolutely gorgeous and just like the pictures! It’s all covered with greenery and palm trees as well as boho inspired decorations! I rented sea view private room that has some sea view in the back indeed but mostly looking out to the gorgeous garden that has a restaurant, a bar and beac lounging area! There were three musicians who often play live in the garden and that was one of the best parts. The food at the restaurant was pretty delicious and a lot of choices for prepaid breakfast! The private room I rented was spacious, had a good AC, was always nicely cleaned and tightened. I was a bit worried about hostel situation when booking thinking it may be too loud or too crazy or too many people because of that but it turned out to be a diverse and respectful crowd of guests. The music in the garden was indeed a bit loud and too energetic at a time. It didn’t bother me when in the room too much though. The service at the restaurant was a bit slow and it did take 3 days of asking to get soap refill but these were just a few small things.

I loved my 6 days at Mayan Monkey Isla Mujeres. The hostel accommodations were clean and beds were comfy. My shower was hot. The common area outside was top notch. Beautiful view of Cancun from the beach, a tropical palm tree setting, and plenty of area including the bar to meet new people. As a little older person, I’d note that there are stairs and top bunks are somewhat daunting. I’d beg for two shelves in the personal lockers to make functioning infinitely better. Taxis are about 9 bucks in and out of town if you go in to dine or to Norte beach. I loved it and hope to return. NA

The beach was great. The music was terrible. If you like tekno this is for you. Rooms were cool and facility is nice place. The music at the beach is awful. The restaurant was not good. Thankfully there were alternative options nearby
