Crowne Plaza Istanbul - Old City by IHG

STAFF and location It is the most tired looking, worn out Crowne Plaza I have ever been in. many chairs at the breakfast area were broken, seats worn out, NEVER put out spoons for breakfast. Our club access room had worn out towels - scratchy, frayed, etc. The bathtub sides were so high it was dangerous getting in and out, plus it was very slippery, the floor slanted, and the carpeting was as old as the rugs on the bazaars. The “Club Lounge” was far from a lounge. It was part of the restaurant with separate food servings, limited wine, no mixed drinks and was only open from 5pm to 7pm. There is no way this was above 2-1/2 stars.

Location. Kitchen staff and reception was very good. Management kind of absent and not doing double checks to insure promised quality. They sell pool as part of stay but pool is not operational. They paint rails and do not put signs that it is freshly painted. They fix elevators and guests use stuff elevators instead. Concerts are amazing but sound blasts all over hotel and non attendees guests stay with noise, although pleasant at a times, until late. Bathroom faucets do not work right or in effort to save money replced with substandard parts. Tub nob fell off when trying to close, water stream diverts toward door of shower because pipes are cheap knock of replacement of former genuine self. You hand towel and hands fall off.

Breakfast area was cramped and the staff were not that friendly

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The entire staff was professional, welcoming, and always ready to help, making me feel comfortable throughout my visit. A special thank you to Kemal, the housekeeper on our floor. His attention to detail, dedication, and the care he put into keeping our room spotless were truly impressive. His work reflected both professionalism and pride, and it made a noticeable difference to our stay. The hotel itself was clean, comfortable, and had a pleasant atmosphere. I sincerely appreciate the excellent service from everyone and would be happy to stay here again. Highly recommended.

Good position, quiet area SPA area - the humidity was very high, there were water stains on the wall, and the pool water was vey cold

It was in a beautiful and stately building and the staff was very helpful. The ramp next to the many stairs was difficult to manage.

The outside of the building so called “king size” bed is made by two twin bed, no outlets can be found. Staffs are standing with stone faces , feel like entering a security check point.

Everything was great, the manager had available Exective Suites so he upgraded us in that room. We appreciate an extra space. The following comments are not negatives as they are merely for recommendations only for the benefits of the hotel and any new future guests. We were looking for our scaft that may have fall off the couch and finding out some shopping bags were not cleaned from the previous guests. My recommendation for the cleaning team is to do some thoroughly cleaning at least once a month as some corners are collecting dusts. The steps entering the building and the strips that's on the floor, I tipped over once and saw some guests tipped over as there are no signs to watch out for the strips on the floor. The bathtub is great but I recommend a non slip mat to prevent slips. Keep in mind their bathtub is deeper and would not recommend for anyone with mobility problems.
