Istanbul Golden City Hotel

It is old, location is in an industrial place, not so clean, team is not freindly. I did not like any thing , it was a big mistake, i really do not recommwnd this hotel.

I liked pretty much everything, compact room but everything works fine, the view from the window is simply unmatched! So here is where I had an issue: the hotel sent me a message asking if I wanted to book a private “VIP” transfer from IST airport. Since my flight arrived past metro closing time, I said yes. The so-called VIP transfer company was the worst I’d ever seen in my life. They made me wait at the meeting point for 40 minutes until they had about 20 people gather up, after which we had to be stuffed in a small elevator to go to some sketchy garage, and the car wasn’t even there yet, so everyone had to wait even longer! The driver was texting the whole way while driving at 45 km/h and it took forever! I know hotel is not personally responsible for the ride but since they advertise their services, it reflects very poorly on their business

Location is great. Bus, subway, tram…all right there. And I had a beautiful view.

This is not the first time in this hotel, actually it is our third. Great location, extremely kind and helpful staff, Ali and the other staff always go out of their way to be helpful. To short of a stay.

LOCATION: The location was excellent. Depending on the room allocation, some rooms offer a beautiful view of the water, the bridge, and the surrounding area. Galata Tower is only about a 5-minute walk away, with plenty of cafés and dining options nearby. BREAKFAST VIEWS: Having breakfast on the rooftop was a lovely experience. The views from the rooftop are beautiful and definitely a highlight. STAFF: The staff were very respectful, pleasant, and professional throughout the stay. They were helpful and welcoming, which made a positive difference. CHECK-IN TIME: The check-in time was 2:00 PM, which felt quite late compared to many other hotels where check-in is typically around 12:00 PM. ROOM SIZE: The room was very tight and felt unusually small — possibly one of the smallest hotel rooms I’ve stayed in. While the bathroom itself was small, the main issue was the shower. The shower base was raised approximately 1–2 feet, which meant that when standing inside, my head was very close to the ceiling. The shower space was extremely limited, with barely enough room to move comfortably. BREAKFAST: The cereal provided was stale, and none of the breakfast items were labelled. As someone unfamiliar with Turkish cuisine, it was difficult to identify the different foods. Given that this is a tourist location, it would have been helpful to have labels in both Turkish and English, as many other hotels do. Breakfast consisted mainly of traditional Turkish items and sweets, with limited variety. It would have been nice to have additional options such as bread for sandwiches or toast. The coffee machine also produced drinks that were very watered down.

On the plus side, the breakfast was good, the view was beautiful, the dinner at the restaurant was great, and the staff were nice. The hotel I stayed at was a four-star hotel. Unfortunately, the room I was in was a family room, but the windows didn’t close properly at all, and the outside noise and cold air easily came inside, which was really bothersome. Also, whenever someone stood outside smoking at night, the smell of cigarette smoke would come right into the room, which was very annoying, and the room was always cold. On Saturday night, there was a disco behind the hotel that played loud music until 2 AM. I called the reception multiple times, and they said they couldn’t do anything, only that they had called the police, but nothing really happened, and the disco stopped at 2 AM. I’d recommend not booking a room there on Saturday nights, or if you do, choose a room on an upper floor. In general, the windows aren’t in good condition, and sound easily passes through them, and the room stays cold. The street where the hotel is located is filled with building supply stores, and it’s quite hard to find any clothing shops or supermarkets there. The elevator was very small, barely fitting two people, but overall, it was an average hotel.

Everything was perfect including the location and the staff and the breakfast, the best thing about the hotel was Mr. Ali.

The location is perfect, the front desk stuff was very supportive and kind, especially ilker, bro Ali and others. The room is clean and the view is perfect! Some of the rooms are small, but thanks to the stuff they have upgraded the room to a bigger room with a beautiful view.

I did not like that a surcharge of €25 per night was required to secure a room on a higher floor. I prefer staying on upper levels to avoid traffic and road noise while working , not only for the view , but unfortunately this option was only available at an additional cost.

The view was absolutely the best - nothing could have been better. The room was comfortable, and the hotel is in a perfect, famous location, close to everything. Truly a great stay overall. Honestly, everything was perfect — there was nothing at all to complain about. The service, cleanliness, comfort, and atmosphere all exceeded expectations.
