Location and staff were excellent I don’t feel the rooms and overall aesthetic matched the photos at all. Very cheap decor. This honestly felt more like a 3 star hotel to me. Felt very overpriced and underwhelming

The location is really great if you have only a few days in Istanbul and the plan is to see the major historic sites in Sultanahmet and the Golden Horn area, e.g., the Hagia Sofia, Blue Mosque, Basilica Cistern, Topkapi Palace, etc. The beds were quite comfy. It is nice that the Sura Design's guests are allowed to use the spa facilities at the main Sura hotel across the street (the 5 star hotel) free of charge as well. If you're planning on exploring more of Istanbul outside of Sultanahmet, getting to those locations and back to the hotel can be a pain due to the distance and the restricted access to the streets which causes the taxi drivers to try and increase the prices. The area itself is significantly more expensive for food, drinks, and activities compared to the less touristy parts of Istanbul. The room was not particularly sound proof, and we were woken up every morning around 5am by the call the prayer, as well as by other guests in the hallways and in the adjacent rooms. We experienced several issues with our arrival: namely being brought to the wrong Sura hotel by the hotel-arranged transfer and then treated rudely by the staff at the front desk; once at the proper hotel across the street, the receptionist checked us into the wrong room (1 bed instead of 2) and messed up the billing as well; when we informed her of the mistake with the beds she had to change our room twice more in order to finally get us into a room with 2 beds instead of 1, but they were made up as 1 bed instead of 2; we requested that the beds be made into two twin beds as we had booked, with separate sets of sheets and blankets, and she informed us she would have it done and we could go explore, but when we returned this had not been done at all - rather, they had merely left a stack of blankets (no sheets or pillows) on the floor next to the bed; when we let the same receptionist know the mistake, she informed us it would be taken care of immediately but then she clocked out of work and didn't actually put in the request before leaving, causing us to have to request it again with her colleague who finally got a bellhop to bring the sheets up about 45 minutes later. I'm certain the issue was with this one receptionist and shouldn't reflect poorly on the hotel overall, but it really soured our experience being treated so rudely.
