Residence Inn by Marriott Jekyll Island

Unfortunately, our stay at this hotel was extremely disappointing from beginning to end. The entire hotel was uncomfortably warm and humid, and our suite was even worse. There was absolutely no air circulation in our 520-square-foot room. When we complained, the solution was to give us one box fan to try to cool an entire suite. Needless to say, it did very little to make the room comfortable. The breakfast buffet was a mess. The area was dirty, food selections were empty or unavailable, the drink machine was empty, the fruit baskets were empty, and half-and-half was left sitting out in the heat. It was not an appetizing or sanitary-looking breakfast setup. The final frustration was checkout. We specifically asked the front desk for a late checkout and were told we could stay until 12:00 PM. Despite that, housekeeping began knocking on our door around 10:30 AM and repeatedly tried to open the door. This continued even though we had been approved for a noon checkout. We finally became so frustrated that we gave up and left at 11:30 AM. Between the hot and humid conditions, lack of proper air circulation, poorly maintained breakfast buffet, and housekeeping repeatedly disturbing us during an approved late checkout, this was not the comfortable or relaxing hotel experience we paid for. This residence inn is about 5 years old and starting to show its age (probably because it is a beach resort). Its a nice place , great location, rooms are nice, nice pool. But I have stayed here twice and both times they had elevator problems. They have two, but usually one is out of service at times.

Absolute breach of contract and deceptive service. I made this reservation 5 months in advance to guarantee a One-Bedroom Island View Room WITH a balcony for my family (my wife, two sons, and our dog). When we arrived at midnight, the staff practiced deliberate concealment. The Front Office Manager, Aarya Trivedi, personally handled our check-in along with a female agent. He knew our room was downgraded due to an engineering failure but hid it from us completely. They handed us the keys without a word, letting us drag our luggage up to a room that was physically smaller and had NO balcony. When I immediately confronted them, Manager Aarya Trivedi only signed a letter admitting to the downgrade because I strictly demanded it, but then shirked responsibility by saying "just talk to Expedia." They tried to pass an insulting $80 refund through Expedia for a multi-night stay, which I flatly refused. To make it worse, the property directly swiped my Visa card for $258.26 for incidentals and resort fees (Folio CUI_60488.pdf), meaning they took my money directly but refused to fix their own fraud. Expedia customer service was helpful, but this specific Marriott property management is unethical. Do not trust them with your vacation!

We loved this hotel and would stay again. The pool was nice, rooms were nice and right on the beach.

We were only there for one night on our way to Florida so I’m grateful for that. Our room was clean but the bed was so uncomfortable; you kind of rolled towards the center which wasn’t great. The buffet breakfast felt very unorganized and the juice machine wasn’t working and there was no regular milk, just chocolate. Tables were left dirty and didn’t see anyone cleaning them. For the price per night I didn’t feel like it was worth it and we wouldn’t stay there again.

Hotel was right on the beach, great bar right by the pool, and my family enjoyed the complimentary bike rentals.

Great location @ a good price. The Balcony view & Breakfast Buffet was a plus. The Bar drinks were a bit pricey!!

Ideal location for families because of convenience. Bright and beautiful spacious lobby was nice for watching a game. Breakfast buffet was excellent and the option to order from onsite restaurant was nice, we did this our first evening when we didn’t want to leave the hotel. Full size kitchens in the rooms are a game changer for families. We used our kitchen for easy lunches during breaks from the beach and pool. Sandy beach is right there and made it easy to enjoy with younger kids. We needed extra towels and they were sent to our room immediately.
