Central Courtyard - Heritage Hötel & Artisan Café

The entire hotel was so beautiful, clean, stylish. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The room was very comfortable and well decorated. Breakfast options were delicious. The restaurant and courtyard was cozy and welcoming. The location was so central Thamel that I was able to do most of my travelling by walking. Highly recommend it to anyone planning to visit Kathmandu. All good.

My favorite thing was the friendly and helpful staff! The WiFi and air conditioning worked well, the hotel was beautiful and clean, and the morning breakfast was delicious.

A beautiful, spotless hotel in a great location, with friendly staff, fresh coffee, and clean, comfortable rooms, I really enjoyed the breakfast . There was a great variety of options, with everything freshly prepared and full of flavor. The ingredients tasted fresh, and each dish was beautifully presented. Whether you prefer a light breakfast or something more filling, there's something for everyone. A fantastic way to start the day, and I would definitely recommend it!

I highly recommend Central Courtyard for anyone wishing to stay in Thamel. It is on a quiet street with a lovely courtyard (as the name suggests), so it is more peaceful than the streets just a block or two away. You can easily walk to Durbar Square from the hotel, and the staff will call you a taxi for visits to attractions outside of town. The staff are incredibly kind, and you receive a daily text with suggestions for self-guided walks, which I found really helpful. The breakfast options are varied and delicious, and made fresh to order. It’s lovely that breakfast is offered all day until 3PM. The cappuccinos are top notch. I would definitely stay at Central Courtyard next time I am in Kathmandu. Thank you for everything. I loved everything. The absence of a lift might be an issue for someone with extreme mobility issues, but for me, this added to the charm. The staff will also carry your luggage up the stairs upon arrival and down again upon checkout. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Thanks again, and hope to see you again soon.

A beautiful little hotel with lovely staff. They all took extra good care of us, and went out of their way to help us find our way around town. The room was quite clean and a very nice generous size, with windows that open, so we had plenty of fresh air. There was some noise from people partying near the hotel on the street at night. Not terrible, but not entirely insignificant for rooms on that side of the building.

Friendly staff, Warm welcome, courteous support staff, brilliant location, Amazing extended hours breakfast, quality of the accommodation, nice homely experience, personalized greetings and messaging. Absolutely loved it. A Full length mirror in the room could be very convenient along with plug point near the electric kettle.

This is a boutique hotel, but the level of service is comparable to that of a high-quality 4-star hotel in Dubai. The staff are exceptionally kind, helpful, positive, and supportive at all times. This applies to everyone I interacted with, including the reception team, waiters, room service staff, and security personnel. Their attitude towards guests is truly outstanding and makes you feel genuinely welcome. The interior design is thoughtfully executed, blending understated luxury with colonial-style furniture and strong local heritage influences. The result is both elegant and authentic. The price I paid in May, during the low season, was only a fraction of what you would expect to pay for a hotel of this quality in Europe. Central location allows you to get a taxi in 3 minutes and Thamel's main streets are 4-8 minute stroll away! (1) The lack of an elevator may be a challenge for some guests, especially if your room is located on the 4th floor. However, the staff will happily carry all your luggage up and down the stairs, which partly compensates for this inconvenience. (2) The quality of the towels could be improved. That said, the bed and mattress - were excellent. (3) The window frames appear to be original and consistent with the building's heritage character. Unfortunately, this means that sound proof is virtually non-existent. It can be difficult to sleep, as 24-hour honking seems to be Nepal's National Sport, and the Kathmandu people appear to practice it with great enthusiasm all the night, all the week! I have visited 58 countries in 4 continents so if peace and absolute silence are your priorities, Kathmandu is definitely NOT your ideal destination ?

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at Central Courtyard. The charm and character of the property are truly exceptional, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere from the moment you arrive. What stood out most was the professionalism, kindness, and genuine attentiveness of the entire team. Every staff member went above and beyond to ensure we had the best possible experience, always ready to help and eager to share recommendations for hidden gems around the hotel and throughout Kathmandu. Their hospitality made a lasting impression on us. One feature we particularly appreciated was the breakfast service, which runs until 2:00 PM. This thoughtful detail is a rare luxury and allows guests to enjoy a relaxed morning without feeling rushed, unlike many hotels where breakfast ends very early. The food was consistently delicious, fresh, and beautifully prepared. Between the unique atmosphere, outstanding service, excellent food, and invaluable local recommendations, Central Courtyard was easily one of the highlights of our trip to Nepal. We would not hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting Kathmandu.

Service Nothing as such

We only had a short one-night stop, but this hotel was absolutely worth it! The staff were amazing from the reception team to the security guards everyone was incredibly welcoming and helpful. The hotel’s decor beautifully reflects Nepalese heritage and culture, which made the stay feel even more special. 10/10 for hospitality and service. Great value for money, especially considering the level of service. Highly recommended!
