Hotel Earth House

The staff was really helpful, we were extremely tired after a long flight, and they offered to change our room to a more quite one free of charge. Was for the best! For the design of the hotel, the smell of cigarettes or food percolates into the rooms

Breakfast and hotel location is good. Bathroom fittings were broken and missing.

A very comfortable stay, hot showers and super soft mattress. The staff are very accommodating and kind. Water, shampoo, soaps, breakfast, towels were all included. The breakfast and beverages served was excellent and they let us check out late. I will definitely return again during my next trip to Kathmandu. Great value. Thank you for everything.

I almost feel bad by admitting that the highlight of my stay in Kathmandu was the coffee at Hotel Earth House. There were so many amazing things about this sweet little hotel, but after travelling for a month without having a decent coffee, I was delighted to have such a good coffee here. Perfect, even. The street this hotel is in was full of life and had lots of tourist-friendly shops and eateries in it. There was an interesting temple on an adjacent street, and it was a short walk into the old town and to heaps of fantastic sights and sites. My bed was on the fifth floor and there was no lift, but we are in Nepal - a little climbing is expected. On the fifth floor there is a nice little rooftop garden to relax in. On the ground floor there is a restuarant serving really tasty Nepalese (and other) food...and of course, excellent coffee. I really enjoyed sitting at the window and watching the world go by while I ate. The hosts were quietly warm and hospitable. When a company I booked a tour through let me down, the young man at the front desk went out of his way to ensure that I made my bus. I would definitely stay here again. The hotel organised an airport pick up for me at a very good price - USD10, I think. The driver and 'guide' were both very chatty and very nice, but, instead of being dropped off at my accommodation, they took me to a tourist office where I was borderline bullied into purchasing a bus ride, flight and tour. I wouldn't usually fall for something like this, but I was tired after a long flight and ended up booking. The 'guide' then walked me the rest of the way to my hotel and told me not to tell the hotel owner that I'd booked anything more than a bus ride with them because they would charge him commission. It felt very dishonest on the part of the tourism office and when I checked out I tried to tell them that their 'friend' was ripping them off, but I don't think they understood me. Anyway, the company is Hiking Bee or something like that. I wouldn't reccommend them. They're pushy and not above board. I don't want this to reflect on Earth House because I found the staff there, wonderful.

Very nice and friendly staff, room was simple but comfy, had the chance to have top floor room next to roof top balcony. Food is good at the hotel restaurant. Nothing really. Maybe a little noisy but you're in Kathmandu downtown so ...
